what exactly is more of a team player than someone who does do the other teammates (defending) job for them ?
From that aspect he does very well. But he hogs the ball for too long, going for a shot instead of passing. He does that a lot and that is why he is why he is always easily marked out. I'm not saying thats all his fault as somtimes the runs are not there but on many other occasions they but he decides to hold on to the ball.
Platini, Zidane and Nedved - all of them struggled when they first arrived here. Doesn't mean he won't flop of course, but there's no doubting the guy's talent. Unlike his fellow country men in this team.
The first part and the part about hard work is why i cut him more slack than Melo(if he continues his crap form then I will have to use one of Vinman's nicknames).

That right now is his main problem.
Sadly, our players (or playing style at least) are very static, so there are not enough possibilities most of the time.
Diego makes it even worse though, because those few times when there actually is an opening or an opportunity, he takes way too much time to do what he's supposed to.

The "blame" clearly goes both ways here.

The whole team is clueless atm, so it's only natural Diego is struggling as well.

Missing a pk (while having lasers shined in your eyes) does not change my opinion of Diego. We know he is capable of better, and with a better manager, hopefully he will flourish.

Obviously harder than you think, considering the amount that are missed by some of the best players in history...
Just today I was showing my best mate (an Arsenal fan) how DP scored against Chelsea last year and then miss against Aston Villa... But still, I think Grosso would have sunk it, Diego is in bad form, which puts him at more pressure... Anyways, I think its just part of the game... Maybe because I'm drunk :p
