After seeing fenerbaches second goal against Chelsea last night i realized we have no one in our entire squad bar maybe Neddy who is capable of striking the ball that good.

Them kind of players win you matches, I think we need a CM or LM with a good firece shot.

Stevie G would do nicely :D:

99 pages of this, still we aren't even close to getting him and we all believe that it still can happen :disagree:
If we were close to getting him, how would we know? There can only be speculation. There is a good 3 months before the transfer window even opens, until then we can only speculate.

Signing Diego would surely mean we plan on playing a trequartista. I still think he is out of our price range though. Unless Madrid and Chelsea pull out, Bremen wont sell to us.

Also, y not play Giovinco/Del Piero in that position, and spend that cash on something else?

Arsenal Head Race To Sign Diego

Arsenal are heading a distinguished pack chasing the signature of Werder Bremen playmaker Diego, according to the player’s father.

It is believed that the Gunners spoke to relevant officials about the availability of the 23-year-old after he dazzled in a recent friendly for Brazil at the Emirates last week.

However, Diego's father and agent Djair da Cunha claims Arsene Wenger will finally have to spend big to land the star, something in the region of £23.5million, in order to win a three-way fight against Real Madrid and Juventus.

Although fellow Premier League sides Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea have also been strongly linked with a summer move for the Bundesliga star, Djair insists these clubs are not really interested.

"There has been a lot of speculation - not all of it is true”, said Djair.

"But Real, Arsenal and Juve all want my son. Juve sporting director Alessio Secco has already been to Bremen to talk with the Werder sporting director."

Diego is under contract at Bremen until 2011, but if Djair was to have his way his son will soon be playing on the biggest stage: "I'm not happy about the situation in Bremen. Diego's dream is to win the Champions League.

"We accept the contract he has with Werder and Diego will behave professionally: We'll wait until July."

I wonder what Arsenal did this afternoon to overtake us?

Only this morning we were in pole position to sign him according to goal.com. :disagree:

Yeah I think the rumour is bogus, but he wouldnt be too expensive for Arsenal (they are LOADED). Wengers foolish issue is not bolstering up his squad with a clear impact player now and then for big bucks.

This one is younger or the same age as many of his players too, not to mention alot better. Fab and Hleb can need another topnotch quality player to play with, instead of carry the load themselves.

True, he isnt too expensive for us, we're one of the richest clubs in the world currently (thanks to our new stadium). Its just Wengers policy of not overpaying for players. And like you said, Fab and hleb do need someone to ease the burden.

Not to mention, a five man midfield, of hleb, rosicky, diego, cesc and flamini is just too mouthwatering:drool:

Is it just me or Adebayor as the lone striker in front of this midfield sounds like such a turn off?

yes and that was what we did last year and totally faild..... none of the players we bought is a starter... almiron out on loan...tiago on the bench...andrade at the hospital...iaquinta most of the time on the bench....criscito back to genoa...
diego would have done 100 times more than all of these players....
so u all believe that we have 50 mil to spend... plus the transfers of almiron and tiago (maybe also andrade or marchionni) and maybe a swap deal of one of noce, palla or so....
so we could get diego for 30 mil
buy zapata for 15-20 mil or a decent cb in that amount
get grosso for around 6 mil
and get a new striker for cash plus player (hunterlaar amauri gomez..)
call back giovinco de ceglie and marchisio as backups
maybe get another free agent (isn't flamini for free?)
so that would be around 70 mil...
tiago and almiron hopefully can get us 16 mil or something like that.... so we would have around 65 - 70 mil to spend

i agree with you , enough avarage players

I don't believe it but seems like Werder could accept a 28/30m € offer from Juve and the player would welcome the move to Turin.

Just a rumor, don't shoot the messenger. :D
