Diego Eyes Move To Italy

Werder Bremen star Diego has revealed his admiration for Italian football and in particular Roma and Milan and says he would like to play in the peninsula at some point in his career.

The Brazilian is rated as one of the most promising midfielders in world football and has a host of admirers. He was close to joining Milan in 2004 but instead signed for Portuguese giants FC Porto.

After an unhappy two years at the Dragao, he was snapped up by Lazio’s Champions League opponents tonight, Werder Bremen.

“It is true that I was near to signing for Milan but then the transfer didn’t go through and I went to Porto,” Diego said ahead of tonight’s match.

“However I hope to have the opportunity to play in Italy one day where the football is very famous.

“I follow all the Serie A teams and I particularly like Roma because they play some exciting football. They are one of the best teams in Europe.

“Milan are my favourites for this seasons Champions League because they have a lot of experience and they have some great players.”

Diego shot to fame in Brazil as a 17-year-old when he formed a devastating partnership at Santos with Real Madrid star Robinho. The duo led the team to the Brazilian Championship in 2002.

Now 22, Diego is sometimes described as a mix between four legendary players from the past.

He has a little bit of Socrates as he was born in the same city as the 1982 World Cup star. He has a little bit of Pele as like the King he wore the number 10 shirt of Santos. He has a little of Zico in him due to his style of play and finally he has a little of Diego Maradona in him as he takes the first name of the ex-Napoli star.

I hope that he decides to join Juventus instead of him joining AC Milan or ROMA. But we can almost me certain that Roma won't make a bid for him since he would be out of their budget.

Interesting article, shame he didn't mention us along with the others. Like you say, out of Roma's budget, but sadly probably ours too.
I think we can afford one or two expensive players, but the management would rather spend it in more players than just one. We can sign Diego but we can't compete with the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, or Inter.

Diego must not be very smart if he wants to move to Milan with Kaka and Gorcuff already there. But hey, if he wants to sit on the bench, be my guest.

Juve Go Midfield Shopping At Bremen

Juventus have been linked with the purchase of three top-class midfielders from German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.

Bianconeri scouts were present at the Weserstadion on Wednesday night to watch Tim Borowski, Daniel Jensen, and Diego in Champions League action against Lazio.

Borowski is 27-years-old and has represented the German national team on 29 occasions. A powerful midfielder, standing at well over 6ft 4in, Borowski is regarded by many as the heir to Michael Ballack in the Germany line-up.

Danish international Jensen is a year older than Borowski and has appeared 34 times for his country since making his debut in 2002.

Both Borowski and Jensen’s contracts with Bremen run out at the end of the season and it appears that Juventus are looking into the possibility of signing the pair on a Bosman free transfer.

Bremen’s Brazilian playmaker Diego is also admired by the Bianconeri. The 22-year-old is rated as one of the most promising midfielders in world football but would not come cheap.

The former Santos star has recently stated that it is his ambition to play in Serie A, although he did express a preference for Juve’s bitter rivals Roma.

“I hope to have the opportunity to play in Italy one day where the football is very famous,” Diego said earlier this week.

“I follow all the Serie A teams and I particularly like Roma because they play some exciting football. They are one of the best teams in Europe.”

I like the idea of having Borowski and Diego here. I am not sure about Jensen.

He's not shit..he might not be good enough for Juve..but he certainly isnt shit..at least from what i saw of him.
Of course I exaggerated, that was my way of saying he is absolutely not needed;).I'm just sick of hearing every free Bundesliga player linked to Juve. (e.g Kovac,Salihamidzic, interest in Kringe,Borowski and Jensen). I want quality players next summer,of course we need squad depth but still we don't have to hire every free average player IMO.

well Neddy won't be arount next year, so we definitely need an AMF...i think it is time we looked for other options...also a world-class CB would do nicely
