Cool

How do you rate Lugano? Do you think he's great, good, average or bad defender?
I've watched the contraversory Bucaspor-Fenerbahce game in stadium. Buca was one of the relegation candidates - and they relegated-. The match was 3-1 in favor of Buca but then Fener scored 4 goals in a row and won the game. This match is a part of the case of Turkish calciopoli. Lugano and Yobo looked cool when Fener is attacking and governing the game but when Buca counterattacked both of the CBs looked uncomfortable. Naturally they conceded 3 goals from a relegated team. In my opinion Lugano is a good defender when positioning and instant interventions are considered but he is weak against fast players and counterattacks. His best bonus attribute is the ability of scoring goals especially headers.

well who knows, we thought the same when we signed bonucci too
Yeah, but you could contribute a lot of his failure to a bad right-back and bad tactics by the manager.

As long we don't get injuries. Don't forget our cover back there is still Ziegler, Motta, Barzagli.
As far as CBs go, I think we'll be fine. Bonucci, Sorensen, Chiellini, and Lugano seem pretty solid. Or is Sorensen really going away on loan?

Ziegler seems to be decent at defending so even if he's not lightning up the flank, we won't concede. That's all that matters.

I have a friend who is a HUGE Fenerbache fan, the guy lives for that team and when I told him we are looking to buy Lugano I asked him how he is, he replied.... "Lugano? Hes the best, hes our whole team, he sets up and controls the whole defense".

Well lets take it with a grain of salt, the Turkish league is no where near the level of the SerieA and eventually the CL (hopefully soon) but Lugano did captain Uruguay to the Copa America and also a semi final in the WC in SA.

I think Sorenson is almost certainly leaving on loan and I have less confidence in ziegler than you.

Nice if true. Strong , full of passion, calm, experienced , not a bad age for a defender.
Surely not WC but i think that he is an interesting option for the spot next to Chiellini, for a team that has certain goals ( CH L ticket) for this season and needs stability.
