I still don't believe this.

Isn't it a bit too early for media to say we have reached an agreement for him?I hope we won't see Bremen president tomorrow saying it ain't gonna happen.

If he flops dont blame the management cuz everyone wanted him.
Of course they will blame the management.
They will blame them if he flops, blame them if he won't be great, blame them for not signing him earlier if he plays great.
Then blame Ranieri for not knowing where to play him if he flops, blame Ranieri for not being 100% in favor of this transfer if Diego plays great. Blame Ranieri for not playing him more centrally if Diego plays bad on the left, blame Ranieri for not playing him on the left if Diego plays bad in the center.

I dont see Diego flopping in terms of having no impact, but perhaps in the way that he wont be some saviour some people expect him to be. I think he is a quality player, but I know the kind of flaws he has, and I'm not sure everyone who has called for his signing knows, so they may overrate him a bit, and be too quickly dissapointed with impatience when things get slow etc.

But aslong as Ranieri wants him and wants to use him right (because I sadly think Ranieri will be our coach for the forseeable future....), then there isnt much else you can ask for.

Diego is simply the kind of quality player we should get, and he comes with risks and is a gamble like any player, so thats something we have to live with.

P.S Dont believe the 30m figure FOR A SECOND. Totally overpaying.

Only RAI2 are reporting it. They have a guy working for them who's got contact with Germany so he might have good sources there but I'd like some confirmation from other sources who won't site RAI2 as one.

They went into details about still working for image rights and stuff.

Some say they even "confirmed" the Alonso deal last year so let's not get carried away.

hope we can get him.. and I don't really understand all this talk about the formation and where he would fit, why can't we play 4-3-1-2, it's not that we have great wingers that would be benched..

Though isnt our budget for the season usually 30m?
Well, what do you mean by transfer budget? The money we pay for new players or the difference between the money payed for new players and the money recieved from sold players?

In both cases, our budget wasn't 30m in 2007 and 2008

P.S: And don't forget that this year we'll probably be stronger financially (CL money) and if we secure the next year's CL, then we may be a big player in next summer's mercato.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Diego play more on the side for Brazil? If he's capable of playing a free role on the wing like Nedved and Camoranesi, then it's a sensible transfer. If not and we're going to build our entire game on him as a trequartista, then I'm sceptical. I do not think Ranieri has faith in such a system and this signing would end up being counter-productive or force us into a change of manager (which is unlikely).

I dont see the problem with an attacker playing in the center as opposed to the left. It would not make too much difference. Lippi used Nedved as a trequartista before and the team did not suffer cuz he was in the center. I think too much of a big deal is being madeo ut of him being a CAM and not a LAM.

I do not have a problem with the formation itself. I added more to my previous post which explains my point further.
