Secco wants him but Ranieri doesn't, Ranieri doesn't want to change his 442 and Secco wants to buy him because there isn't a right replacement for Nedved and he's a player which a lot of people at the club want.

So when Ranieri doesn't want a player it's OK but when DD didn't want a player it was bye, bye Kansas. Stupid f*cking board. Ironically, the player which costed DD his job will be out the door soon enough.

Secco sets Diego date

Tuesday 13 January, 2009

Juventus directors will travel to Germany next week for their final push to sign Werder Bremen midfielder Diego.

The Bianconeri have been tracking the Brazilian international for some time and have already held provisional talks with the player's club and agent.

After Juve's Serie A clash with Lazio, sporting director Alessio Secco is set to fly to Bremen to try and thrash out a definitive agreement for a transfer.

Diego is under contract until June 2011 but the player's relationship with his club seems to have turned sour and he has admitted his desire to leave.

While Werder reportedly value their prized asset at around £20m, Secco will be confident of slashing the cost considerably.

The 24-year-old trequartista has openly flirted with the Old Lady and Juve have a four-year deal waiting that is worth around £4m per season - all that is lacking is Werder's approval.

Should Diego prove a bridge too far, the Turin giants may turn their attentions to Liverpool's Ryan Babel and Fiorentina stopper Manuel Da Costa.

I believe I heard this one before, a few months ago with some Dutch midfielder playing for HSV and now Real Madrid.

I will only believe he is ours once I see the official announcement on juventus.com.

I wonder how is Secco gonna do that ...

By convincing Werder that Diego is not worth 20m
or offering a player in exchange ... ?

I would settle quite easily for a deal with our most consistent inconsistent player....goodbye tiago, welcome diego.

In all honesty this scenario would be much easier to digest instead of a huge cash bid.

Somebody here said Ranieri said he didn't want Diego on a TV show, yes? Meh, this is exactly why Deschamps left in the first place: Transfer Targets.
No, Deschamps wanted some players that board considered unaffordable (Kolo Toure - not willing to leave Arsenal and Wenger not willing to sell, Malouda - 21 m euro, Ribery 25 m euro), while Ranieri doesn't want a player due to tactical reasons. In addition, DD was also playing 4-4-2, so his opinion on this summer's transfer target would be probably similar to Ranieri's: a winger rather than Diego.

Besides that, there are no quotes in what Channel4 reports, so it could be utter BS.

Secco's probably flying to Germany to meet with Friedrich or Rakitic and the media assume it's for Diego because his name sells more papers. He might also have a mistress over there.

Bollocks. IIRC, we were linked with the likes of Givet, Sissoko, Mavuba, Gabriel Milito, Amauri. When was linked with us? You are right on Toure, Deschamps wanted him.
