You can't show people the wrong thing by being the wrong one yourself. It makes you look like the ones you're criticizing. In this case, all you're doing is discrediting yourself to bash the ones who are judging people by their names, races, colors and "the things they're wearing".

I can handle being discredited if the point I'm trying to make is given the proper attention

This is a big digression from the thread's topic, but free market is a complete myth. There is no such thing, never was. Those are the pipe dreams of laissez faire economists as far as I'm concerned.

Of course, the central planning of communism is completely insane. Basically every so called free market is some sort of approximation to a free market. But everywhere you have tariffs on imports to protect the domestic economy and government intervention (regulation as the term goes) where seen fit. What this means is that so called socialism actually reigns supreme in the economic reality of the world. Government intervenes in some areas, the rest is left free.
I'm not saying there shouldn't be a free market to an extent, but socialism also encourages somewhat middle central planning so people can stop eating garbage like McDonalds etc.. in a way, but that's something else and I don't think we want to get into that cause it's gona be one long ass discussion. I'd be happy to start a topic about it whenever. As for the topic at hand, forza Sarkozy.

@Martin, Whats the difference between you judging women wearing Hijab and me judging homosexuals?
Random question. I like the new gimmick.

First of all, I'm not judging the women as much as I'm judging the society that has produced this custom. Did I ever say the women are doing something immoral? No, rather I'm speculating on whether the customs are immorally imposing something onto the women.

So there's the difference. But then your question presupposes that judgment is somehow wrong, which I don't really get.

No matter if you can handle it or not. What matters is that you trying to show people who are judging women by what they're wearing to be wrong will be going all void since you're doing the exact same thing.

Btw to those saying I'm ignorant.

First of all I can say the same about you because for all I know you have no idea what the truth really is and you're just defending something that is a certain way because it is that way. Lots of people do this.

And secondly the only way I could shed my ignorance on this issue is to do some kind of anthropological study where I'd have to go live with the people I'm studying for some period of time and report my findings. Since I'm not an anthropologist, this is not going to happen.

So as far as I'm concerned it's really not an argument that is useful because my ignorance remains a constant.

I'd never say that about you, you know that

So how did you know that he was talking about you? :eyebrows:

Maybe this definition was somehow familiar to you, eh? :D

Women are forced to wear hijab. Guys aren't forced to have sex with other guys unless they're born that way, and even then, they don't have to have sex with other guys.

That's the difference.
