Juve Want Zapata – Report
Juventus are lining up a summer transfer bid for Udinese star Cristian Zapata, however his transfer fee could complicate any deal.
Colombian centre back Zapata has been a rock at the back for Udinese this campaign, and has made 21 Serie A appearances, helping the club into sixth place in the table.
Juventus, having been impressed by Arsenal’s performance against Milan the other night, are also looking to build their future on young players.
Zapata is a player they greatly admire, however his €20m asking price is regarded as too expensive by sporting director Alessio Secco.
Secco may be prepared to offer promising youngsters Paolo De Ceglie and Davide Lanzafame in exchange in order to lower the price.
Zapata’s agent yesterday confirmed that Juve, along with a host of other top clubs, were interested in his client.
“A lot of the transfer market voices that you hear with regard to Zapata are just rumours,” Daniele Vidal said
“However, I can confirm that there are a number of scouts looking at him. People from Juventus, Milan, Inter, Fiorentina and also English clubs.”
The player himself though, whose contract with the Zebrette runs out in 2012, seems intent on staying in Udine for at least another season “I'll still be playing for Udinese next season.” he declared.
