What football-philosophy does Deschamps have? Offensive/Defensive? How did AS Monaco play when he was coach?
Deschamps lets his side play much more than a bunch of coaches, and perhaps a little more than the great Lippi. Didier always sticks with a back four because he loves when his fullbacks attack down the flanks and provide support, and because of this he sticks with either three players in midfield with different characteristics or four across the pitch. But the nice thing about Deschamps is that he does not always need two hardcore defensive midfielders in there like Crapello. Rather, he would be willing to deploy a deep-lying playmaker along with that defensive midfielder, from what I have seen at least. Sounds lovely to me.

Didier does love to attack down the wings and subsequently helped propel Rothen to one-hit-wonder stardom. So basically Deschamps loves to attack, but of course will make sure the defense is secure as possible.

Category: General

Didier Deschamps is the new coach of Juventus. The Frenchman today signed a contract that ties him to the club for the next two years. Deschamps' return is great news for the bianconeri, who witnessed the peak of his playing career during his five years with the club from 1994-1999. Didier played 178 times, scored four goals and won almost every conceivable trophy: 3 scudetti, a Champions League, an Intercontinental Cup, a European Supercup, a Coppa Italia and 3 Italian Supercups.

Deschamps has previously managed Monaco, from 2002 to september 2005, with whom he came second and third in the French league, and reached the final of the Champions League in 2004.

Didier will be ready to shine once again as he undertakes his next adventure, at the helm of the new Juventus.

Source: Juventus.com

Didier Deschamps has spoken of his pride after he was officially confirmed as the new Juventus boss.

The Frenchman signed a two-year contract with the outfit on Monday to seal a return to the club where he shined as a player.

“I feel enormously happy right now. I’m really proud to have come back here, to Turin, to boss a team like Juventus,” said the 37-year-old.

“I am part of Juventus’ history as a player, and the fans remember me as I was on the field," he added.

“Perhaps I wasn’t the most spectacular player, but I always gave the best that I could, right until the end.

“The team needs to have this same mentality, to always believe in themselves. To do this, we have to ensure that we have everyone’s support.”

Juve opted for the most famous ‘water carrier’ the game has ever seen after Fabio Capello jumped ship to join Real Madrid last week.

Deschamps, who has led previous club Monaco to a Champions League Final as a Coach, spent five years in Turin as a player.

During that time he won three Scudetti, a Champions League, an Intercontinental title and a European Super Cup.

The 1998 French World Cup winning captain will be joined by a familiar face in Turin next term in the shape of Olivier Kapo.

The wide midfielder was signed by Juve from Auxerre two years ago, but spent last term on loan in the Principality even if Deschamps was quickly replaced by Francesco Guidlolin before Christmas.

I really liked him as a player and I think he did quite well as a coach for Monaco. He has my full support. If that counts for anything :)

Good luck, DD!

I am worried that this could be the beginning of the end of Juventus, Capello gone and dont forget Capello was never out of 1st place in the league at anytime with Juventus, I dont like him as a person, Mutu is gone, Cannavaro may go, all our best players, this is disaster, I hate Moggi, why cheat, look at the quality of juventus in reaching the world cup final with the French and Italian players, why risk everything, Moggi should have known he was a dodgy character i could tell just by looking at him, and that his phone lines may be tapped
