This bashing of the English Premiership is getting quite annoying.
Bergkamp didn't fail in serie a, he simply played for a very poor,
defence-minded Inter side. Likewise Thierry Henry didn't fail at
Juve either, as he proved when he terrorised Juve at Highbury
last season. Basically, Italian football is sterile and not attractive
to watch as can be seen by the exodus of top players in recent
years. The Premiership provides already gifted footballers with
a freedom to enjoy their football and express themselves on the
pitch, while also maintaining a highly competitive edge.
You think serie a is still the best in the world, but it's not. Spain
is the strongest with England in second and Italy vying for third
with Germany. Also apart from the Juve, the two Milan clubs and
the two Roman Clubs seria a doesn't have the strength in depth
of the Premiership. Como,Modena,Empoli,Brescia and the like would be mauled in the English League.
I hope I'm wrong, as I'd like to see Juve win the Champions'
League but the English sides will do better in the competition
and they'll do so by playing quick, attractive, skillfull football,
something they don't get enough credit for and something
Italian football should try and emulate.
