Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero’s contract renewal talks are reportedly at crisis point after tense discussions on Tuesday.

The talismanic Juventino is looking to extend his contract in Turin until 2010, but has been angered by the Old Lady’s offer of a deal expiring in 2009 at a reduced salary, according to Tuttosport.

The 32-year-old has overcome recent injury problems and shone in early pre-season friendlies, but now his future is shrouded in mystery.

While his current agreement runs until the end of June 2008, it could be costly for the Cadetti champions to fall out with such an influential player in the dressing room.

Pinturricchio’s agent and brother Stefano is set to meet with Juve director general Jean-Claude Blanc again to try and increase the current annual wage proposal of around £3m.

Juve face Napoli and Inter on Wednesday night in the annual Birra Moretti Trophy.

How funny would it be if you couldn't resign him so he got angry, so he then left to play for Roma or something. I think that would be hilarious.

man plz, he is fuckin 32, he cant be earning 5 mil a year...man up and take a cut like everyone else
what do you propose? do you feel his skills have diminished? even though it was B he still out produced trez. and who do you think will man up and fill his role on and off the field for this club. Remember that he is more than just another player. You always get what you pay for and with him I think 5M/year is a fuckn steal son.

Well, he might have out-produced Trez, but that does not mean his skills have not diminished. It means Trez has a terrible year. Compared to where he was when he was 26 or 27, yea, he has lost a step....not mentally though.

I just wish I could still watch Juve with a young Candyman and Delpie. Because Delpie loves Candyman, Candyman just never felt the same.

what are you tyrying to say? That I hooked up Juve? Meh, if I find something that has to deal with Juve I'll post it up, but I'm still neither a fan or a supporter.

As good as you think he is, even though he really isn't that great anymore, 5 mil a year is a hell of a lot of money for any player. That's amongst the top salaries in the world. I fail to see how that is a steal.

What the fvck are you talking about?

You're talking as if you were inside that meeting and as if you have your own sources that Dp's problem is the wage.

Del Piero was the first one to accept a pay cut couple of years back. So check your facts,

Please, i repeat please, for once GET OFF Del Piero's dick..u act like ur Sonia or something.

The fact is that Del Piero has whinned and threatened to leave every time he is on the bench or not getting paid enough. Its funny when Camo was whinning about his wages u called him a traitor, suggested we should sell him ASAP, but when Alex does it, he is the God, he should get it. The thing is he is not good enough anymore to have Ronaldinho, Kaka, CRonaldo...etc wages. He is 32 years old, in couple of months will be 33. When everyone else takes a cut during that age, why cant Alex?

u dont know shit about football, that's all i can say to u

    "u dumb"
U dumbfuck, Alex is almost 33, he does not deserve to be paid the amount of money superstars such as Ronaldinho are getting.

AND ONCE AGAIN, ALEX IS NOT A GOD, SO STOP TREATING HIM AS ONE.

Oh, I know, I'm just tired of these dickryders coming at me every time I post, cuz of my username they dont even read what I say.
I read it and disagreed and it had nowt to do with your name.

My understanding is that the disagreement with DP is as much about the length of contract as the amount of cash.

Also DP has no pace now so I don't think his performances will drop an awful lot, perhaps his stamina will lessen so he won't manage 90 mins so often.
