I think you misunderstood, Padovano. I'm nog bringing his career in disrepute. And hell, even if Del Piero took drugs I wouldn't care. Del Piero isn't the kind of player that shines because of his muscles. And as I said numerous times already, it could be overtraining as well. But I firmly believe he should become less muscular because his legs can't cope. And let's be honest now, practically every pro takes drugs. Come on, would you turn down drugs when they're going to make you immortal? I do agree with the fact I'm just a child and don't have a shread of evidence. Furthermore I don't want to bring Ale's career in disrepute and I even don't believe I can if I would want to.

Thank you for the clarification. I am curious though, what made you suspect drug use? Was it becuase the injuries are coming more frequently or something else?

Because they are coming more frequently and in such mysterious ways. As showed against Deportivo Del Piero can get injured anytime anywhere. Also I was thinking about drugs because players who grow old tend to do such things. And after all Del Piero has been with Juventus for a very long time now. But mostly I'm just frustrated. I mean if he (when selected) goes to Euro 2004 he could get the same injury in his first match. There has to be something they can do about this problem?

It's true, Del Piero is too much gentleman and too little winner to take drugs I suppose.

I'm the biggest Del Piero fan you'll ever meet. But I'm beginning to wonder whether he takes drugs. His injuries are all muscular injuries and his muscular mass has increased incredibaly over the last three seasons. I really hope he's clean, but I have my doubts. His career is going to be over after this European Championship, or will be going downhill at least, but he should regain his original style and leave all that powertraining alone.
of caurse he is not taking any sort of drugs....
if he did..he wouldn't be playing...at least not for the cl!!

ok..juve owes maaaaany drugs....but they are not forbiden or stuff

and i don't think his muscular mass has increased soooo incredibly as you think...

I hardly think that injuries are any evidence for the use of drugs. As Pado said, professional athletes have to get injured at some stage in their careers, and maybe Del Piero just happens to pick up more knocks than other players. Monkfish also made a good point in saying that players like DP, Totti and Ronaldo may get injured more because they get more attention from opposition defenders. Now this may not necessarily cause injuries directly, but surely any mortal would sustain long-term injuries after having their legs hacked at with studs week in, week out

That is a very sad and cinical statement to make. I would find it very hard to believe that a majority or even a large portion of professional athletes take drugs. And in response to that question, I was once a professional athlete and I had the oppurtunity to take performance enhancing drugs, but I did not. It's a matter of honour, immortality is worthless without integrity.

Yeah, everybody plays with his life, so why shouldn't I? And cheating is now a fundamental principle in sports, right?

Come on, would you turn down drugs when they're going to make you immortal?
Oh you mean immortal as in Pantani dying of an overdosis at the age of 34, Florence Griffith of a heart attack at 38, or Signorini becoming a cripple in his early thirties and dying a slow and painful death?

No one knows what the long term effects of creatine are. Maybe you'll get colon cancer, maybe your children will have Down syndrome or be deformed. But as long as it's not forbidden that makes it alright, isn't it?

and i don't think his muscular mass has increased soooo incredibly as you think...
Then you were'nt paying much attention. Del Piero's muscular mass has doubled in a very short notice.

thats easily developed with the use of creatine which is completely legal.

No one knows what the long term effects of Creatine are ? err... they have been studying the effects of creatine for a LONG time now and if it caused any serious side effects, it would have been taken off the shelves a long time ago.

But of course. Can you show me any scientific evidence proving that creatine is harmless? No you can't, because it's a new product and research lacks the sufficient perspective to have a comprehensive idea of its long term effects. This is why it has been made illegal in France, which is in the vanguard of the struggle against doping. Way to go, France. And anyway, since when does the fact that a product is legal mean that it is harmless?

Regarding the short time effects of creatine, doctors have already picked out a long list of side effects, among which a greater vulnerability to cramps and muscle straining among players making use of it. Coincidence?
