Trez: We can do better Monday 17 March, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Trezeguet wasn’t satisfied with Juventus’ performance against Napoli last night, but concedes that it’s the result that counts.

The joint Capocannoniere had an unusually quiet game and it was teammate Vincenzo Iaquinta who secured the three points in the closing stages.

“It was an important victory,” the French hitman said. 'What mattered was the win.

“We have a good advantage over other teams, but we can still improve a lot because we didn’t play well.

“We are still lacking something in our play. We had a forgettable first half, but we improved a lot after the break and Iaquinta helped us up front.

“But all in all, we are having a very good season and the key to this side’s success is the will to win.”

Juve have regularly left it late this term and have scored 19 of their 49 goals in the final 15 minutes of games.

“Once again we showed that we are strong on a mental level and we won this game at the death,” Trez stated.

“I am disappointed not to have scored myself, but the group is working and that’s the main thing.”

Trez: We can beat Inter
Thursday 20 March, 2008

Juventus striker David Trezeguet insists that the Old Lady won’t settle for a draw at Inter this weekend and has shrugged off Raymond Domenech’s latest snub.

The Cadetti champions face a daunting test against the leaders at San Siro, but Trezeguet is excited rather than scared and fiercely determined.

“We are going to San Siro to win,” the French international bellowed. “We have nothing to lose.

“There is always a rivalry and at the moment we are feeling it even more. We will find ourselves up against the leaders and they have players of the highest level.

“However, we will put them under pressure because we are Juve and we want to strike a big blow for our fans.

“It would be great to reopen the title race and it would have a special taste after Calciopoli. After everything that has happened, I would rather Roma won the Scudetto.”

The 16-goal hitman and his teammates looked worryingly short of ideas at Empoli last night, but Trez has already put the 0-0 draw behind him.

“There are games when you don’t manage the situation well,” he explained.

“We know that we aren’t having a great spell and we need to get back to our best and play more attacking football, like Juventus should.

“But all in all we are having a great season and we have shown that we can be a very competitive side, but when you play for Juventus you always want more.

“At the moment we are looking behind us because Inter and Roma have a little more.

“Of course it will take time to close the gap to Inter, but I’m also hoping that we can add new players like we did last year.”

Despite his prolific form in Serie A, Trezeguet has again been left out of the French national side.

“I think that Domenech has made his decisions for Euro 2008,” he roared.

“I am not part of the project but I don’t want to make a drama out of it. I respect the Coach’s choices and I will look forward and try and do my best for Juve.

“I don’t feel that Domenech has faith in me and there are players who are better suited to his style of play. Mentally, I am ready to stop playing for the national side.”

Matrix: Thanks,Trez! Saturday 22 March, 2008

Marco Materazzi stirred up tension ahead of tonight’s battle with Juventus. “David Trezeguet made me win a World Cup, I adore him!”

The Inter defender was asked for his opinion after Trezeguet said he hoped Roma would win the Scudetto.

“Considering what David gave me on July 9, 2006 in Berlin, I accept anything,” grinned the Italy international.

Trezeguet missed the decisive spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out between France and the Azzurri in the World Cup Final.

“If I am world champion then I owe it to his missed penalty, so how could I possibly be upset over a comment? Besides, I really respect him and consider it scandalous Raymond Domenech has frozen him out of the France squad.”

Materazzi is one of the symbols of Inter and so this clash with Juve in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal has special meaning.

“I have always considered them a strong side that inevitably motivates opponents to do well. The year I left Perugia there was talk of Juve’s interest, but I had already chosen Inter. I knew sooner or later they’d get back to winning ways and at the time that really was a gamble.”

Matrix is gearing up for Euro 2008, but he sees the future of the Nazionale in the hands of a Bianconeri player, Giorgio Chiellini.

“Like me, he is someone who came from the streets and to get where he is today worked himself ragged. The trouble is that people like Chiellini need to work twice as hard to get sporting and economic recognition.”

Materazzi has often achieved recognition for the wrong reasons and his dismissal against Liverpool proved costly in the Champions League.

Having said that, Inter have a poor disciplinary record this season with 10 red cards in all competition.

“I do not exclude that Inter may well be too physical, similar to Fabio Capello’s Juventus, but the fact remains that especially in the Champions League we have been extremely unlucky.

“If I was silly at Anfield – as being booked I should have been more careful – I don’t understand why Philippe Mexes’ dismissal against us was considered 'rushed’ by the media and Roma.

“Either the Frenchman was also silly or my red card was also rushed. Make your minds up.”

that fuckin' son of a bitch!!! :(
