Trez won't settle for second

Juventus striker David Trezeguet has declared that the Bianconeri will not settle for second place.

The Turin giants were stripped of two titles and relegated to Serie B in 2006 after the club's former management were accused of match-fixing.

The French striker who, discounting those revoked, has won two Scudetti is keen to get back to the top of the Italian championship as soon as possible after 12 months in the Second Division.

“The fans don't want to think anymore about where we were a year ago,” he stated. “My ambitions have not changed. Now we are in Serie A, the fans want to win and fast. I am like them.”

Trezegol is still bitter at the way Juventus were treated after Calciopoli and is impatient for a quick return to glory.

“When you play for Juventus you cannot content yourself with anything other than first,” he continued. “At least I don't, also for personal reasons.

“I am not 24 anymore. I don't have time to wait to win again. We are strong and can play at the highest level.”

The former Serie A Capocannoniere, who has scored 15 goals so far this season, is realistic though.

“Unfortunately we still have something less than our adversaries, despite disputing a great championship. We have to accept it.”

Trezeguet: We Still Need To Improve
Juventus striker David Trezeguet has insisted that his side still have some improving to do despite being on course for qualification to next year's Champions League.Claudio Ranieri’s men beat Genoa 2-0 at the Luigi Ferraris on Sunday night and the Frenchman grabbed one of the goals as his side dominated the game.

However Trezegol believes the Bianconeri can still improve on their season thus far as they have at times been disappointing.

“We have showed that we are a great team and we want to show everyone that we have been very convincing in this championship,” Trezeguet told Sky Sport Italia.

“Our objective is to finish in the top four and we are fighting for this.

“There is still a big margin of improvement but overall we are having a great season.

“Sunday we have an important game against Napoli and we hope to be at our best.”

Juve have not had the best of season and at times they have been shockingly poor, having picked up no points in three games prior to the Genoa win, something which had never happened before.

Ranieri’s men will be hoping to keep a firm hold of their third place when Napoli visit the Stadio Olimpico. The Partenopei won the reverse 3-1 and no doubt Juve will be hoping to get some revenge against Edy Reja’s side.

He played a very good game last night, intelligent runs all night and helping out the defense at times. Great to see him back
That was very pleasing to see. In fact, this season his workrate and teamwork has been so superb and is something I haven't seen from him before. He is really fighting for this team.
