true but they r very diff players also...Ale's game is more about playmaking and starting from MF...Trez is a pure striker who's hunting ground is in and around the penalty area...and Ale must have 100 times more assists than Trez as well

Trezeguet overlooked by France

Raymond Domenech has omitted David Trezeguet from the France squad ahead of Les Bleus make-or-break UEFA EURO 2008™ double header against the Faroe Islands and Litunania.

Goalscoring record
The Juventus striker has been in fine form so far this season and tops the Serie A scoring charts with seven goals in six games. "The players competing for a place in the squad were stronger than him. We have many centre-forwards and a choice to make," said Domenech. The games against the Group B strugglers provide Thierry Henry with the perfect opportunity to equal Michel Platini's record of 41 goals for France. FC Internazionale Milano midfielder Patrick Vieira remains an absentee following the thigh injury he sustained while on international duty last month. France occupy third place in Group B, one point behind second-place Italy, and two behind Scotland.

France squad
Goalkeepers: Sébastien Frey (ACF Fiorentina), Mickaël Landreau (Paris Saint-Germain FC), Ulrich Ramé (FC Girondins de Bordeaux).

Defenders: Eric Abidal (FC Barcelona), Julien Escudé (Sevilla FC), Patrice Evra (Manchester United FC), William Gallas (Arsenal FC), Philippe Mexes (AS Roma), Bakary Sagna (Arsenal FC), Lilian Thuram (FC Barcelona).

Midfielders: Abou Diaby (Arsenal FC), Lassana Diarra (Arsenal FC), Mathieu Flamini (Arsenal FC), Claude Makelele (Chelsea FC), Jérôme Rothen (Paris Saint-Germain FC), Jeremy Toulalan (Olympique Lyonnais).

Forwards: Nicolas Anelka (Bolton Wanderers FC), Karim Benzema (Olympique Lyonnais), Sidney Govou (Olympique Lyonnais), Thierry Henry (FC Barcelona), Florent Malouda (Chelsea FC), Franck Ribéry (FC Bayern München), Louis Saha (Manchester United FC).

i hope the french crash and burn whilst not scoring any goals so that fool knows what hes doing is wrong
I think its a win/win outcome.. Trez stays fresh for Juve n keeps his hunger to show what a fool Domenech is n almost importantly that France fail to make Euro2008:agree:

i am a fan of france and a hard core follower of les bleus but in all honesty domenech can suck my balls for snubbing david. and gazzao you are correct when you say that it should keep him fresh for juve throughout the year if he keeps getting dissed by that cockmonger known as domenech.

forza trezzzzzzz

Domenech is a wanker. He doesn't call up France's (and arguably Europe's) most in-form clinical striker?

Oh right, he called up Saha...

Competition in France NT forward line is just too scary. But I think Trezeguet´s place should be cemented. I would like to see them playing with 3 forwards. Something like this:

Henry/Malouda----------Trezeguet---------Ribery

I never really thought about that. That’s probably the best attacking force in the world…

Malouda is having a brilliant season at Chelsea, Ribery at Bayern and Trez here. Henry is one of the classiest players in the world however he’s still adjusting to La Liga… I think I’d have to drop Henry at the moment!

Yeah but they suffer in midfield department. Just destroyers there. No creative, classy genius like Zidane anymore. He was a key connection in the team. Nasri could be that man but he is still young. Nevertheless, he should have been called up.

i dont care what the lineup is honestly -- bottom line is that without zz in the midfield france has no plate setter for attacks. since this is the case leaving trez out is just plain dumb cuz its 1 less threat the other team must worry about. henry is genius but he is no longer the player he used to be IMO, trez is still the best player on the NT, only to be over taken by a ribery or malouda.
