David Trezeguet insists he is willing to forego Champions League football to stay with Juventus, but admits he was 'forced’ to play in Serie B.
“
I have another year on my contract and intend to respect it,”

assured the Frenchman in the 'Gazzetta dello Sport’s Saturday magazine 'Sportweek.’
The media has taken it as a given since the summer that the World and European Champion was hoping to leave Turin.
However, he remained even in Serie B and claims the situation will remain the same if they are promoted.
“I never said I was leaving. At the start of the season I was asked if I was disappointed not to be playing Champions League football.
“I answered that effectively it was a problem because we had earned the right to enter that competition on the field of play. It was taken away from us for reasons that had nothing to do with the team.”
The club has warned that a Scudetto push will be very unlikely for at least a couple of years, although they could aim for a top four finish after the signing of Zdenek Grygera and Hasan Salihamidzic.
“The newspapers wrote that 'Trezeguet wants to play in the Champions League, therefore he will leave Juve.’ It’s not true.
“For me, even with a second season out of Europe, what counts more is the rapport with my teammates and they have asked me to stay next year. This is a club with 106 years of history behind it, that cannot be torn down by one season in Serie B.”
However, Trezeguet did confess to 'Sportweek’ that his decision to remain in Turin after the Calciopoli scandal wasn’t entirely an autonomous one.
“I was disappointed that I wasn’t given the same choices as those who left. The club considered me irreplaceable and I took that as a sign of respect, but I have been here for seven years and thought I could have more of a say in my future.”
Several of the world class players were sold in the summer when it became clear the Bianconeri would be either demoted or given a heavy points penalty.
Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluca Zambrotta, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Patrick Vieira and Emerson were some of the top stars who walked away, while others like Pavel Nedved, Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluigi Buffon opted to stay.
“All I received was a phone call telling me to turn up to pre-season training on August 10. Basically, it wasn’t my choice to remain in Serie B.”
