With our weak back line, we were always in danger of conceding. I did not believe a trio of Melberg, Gygera and Molinaro could seriously keep Chelsea out for long.

especially with Tiago Marchisio and Sali infront of them. They are no Cambiasso who could fill in as CB when needed.

Should have brought Amauri on for Sali. With 10 minutes left we can ask Amauri to play a mid-field role even if he is a forward because of his added offense, and his aerial prowess. Sali had done nothing all game, not even defensively.

You guys keep amazing me. After "Giovinco should have played instead of Grygera" in a match against Lazio where our backline was under consistent pressure , now i hear that Amauri should have played as a midfielder.
Keep them comming.

I am not saying that. You keep putting words to other people mouth.

In those circumstances we had nothing to loose, we were a man down, 2-1 wouldnt have got us through, we should have rather risked and put on another striker, not taking out our best finisher for another striker.

And from what i have seen and also you, Amauri does keep the ball quite well also in midfield areas. 3X better technique then Sali for sure.

Beside the point wasnt him coming in as a mid anyway. Point is that we had 10 minutes to score, go out all guns blazing, not play coward.

On "Studio Sport" they said that there could be an exchange:

Trezeguet-Huntelaar

Even though that's bullshit and they invented it because of the "trouble" between David and Ranieri, would you do it?I would consider it to say the least.

When I absolutely have to score a goal I'd rather have Amauri in midfield than Sali. Sali had 1 tackle and about 5 fouls. You're telling me Amauri couldn't do that?

I'm talking about Amauri playing midfield for 10 minutes, not the whole game, 10 minutes. How many tackles would he have had to make? Every player can defend adequately for such a short time. At some point in his life Amauri has been asked to tackle someone, I'm sure. Once he gets the ball he can do much more than Sali and is dangerous on set pieces.

Plus, we took of David for Amauri. That didn't even improve our chances.

It's moreso that I'd rather have Sali off the field then Amauri playing midfield though.
