Trez angry with Ranieri
Thursday 12 March, 2009
Juventus striker David Trezeguet admits he was upset when Claudio Ranieri substituted him during the Bianconeri's Champions League tie with Chelsea on Tuesday.

Juventus were winning 2-1 against Chelsea on the night and needed one more goal to progress when the French striker was substituted with just 10 minutes to go.

Chelsea equalised three minutes later through Didier Drogba and the Bianconeri were knocked out of the competition at the second round stage.

“I didn't understand the substitution and feel a little disappointed,” Trezeguet told French newspaper L'Equipe.

“We were winning 2-1 and only needed another goal to go through to the quarter-finals. Perhaps we needed to changed something tactically and put another attacker on.

“Ranieri didn't want to, though,” Trezeguet revealed. “It's a shame for me and for the team. Now, we'll have to wait and see what happens next year.”

Juventus are back in action this weekend when they welcome relegation threatened Bologna to the Stadio Olimpico.

You could see it on his face. The way he shook his head when he was brought off.T

hough i dont blame Ranieri entirely. We were already down to 10 men,and going gung ho would have exposed us at the back. It's not like we had to go out for the goal alone. We had to defend against any Chelsea goals too,and that too without our best defender.Del Piero wasnt going to be taken off incase we got a free kick in range for him.The Trezeguet sub was the only feasible option IMO.
