Trez: Scudetto is on Monday 27 August, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus hat-trick hero David Trezeguet was delighted with the opening-day rout of Livorno and claims the Scudetto is a target.

The Old Lady’s return to Serie A was a triumphant one as the Cadetti champions pulverised their Tuscan opponents 5-1.

While the general consensus is that the Bianconeri should be aiming for Champions League football rather than the title this term, the emphatic win sent a clear message to their rivals.

“We are back and we are a force,” Trezeguet grinned. “Bigger sides will give us more important tests, but we will try for the Scudetto and confidence is worth so much.

“This Juve is the new Juve and its a mixture of experienced champions and youth who will become champions like Domenico Criscito and Antonio Nocerino.”

Captain Alessandro Del Piero, who is struggling with an injury niggle, also took obvious pleasure from the performance.

“The championship couldn’t have started better,” he insisted. “It was a great win and a convincing one. Perhaps the scoreline flattered us, but we wanted it so much.”

Juve’s next challenge is Wednesday evening’s Coppa Italia encounter against Parma.

Only Care About Juve - Trezeguet

Juventus hitman David Trezeguet was full of confidence following his hat-trick in last weekend's 5-1 win over Livorno.

David Trezeguet spoke to Italian sports daily TuttoSport following Juventus' convincing 5-1 victory over Livorno on their return to Serie A.

"I have been very optimistic from the start because first of all I only go on the pitch to win, that's the only way I understand football. Secondly, the new Juve have confirmed the old players, the champions, and added young players with an assured future, like Criscito and Nocerino," the striker said.

"We wanted to send out a clear message on our return to Serie A. And we showed we really want to do well. It's only the first step, even though it's fundamental for the morale and self-confidence. We are back, with strength and conviction. And I'm happy on a personal level, even though it's more important that the team did well, after a very good preparation.

The Frenchman does not evade the word 'scudetto' anymore: "We will try to reclaim it. The team is constructed to win, and this first victory fires us up, our morale is sky high."

The feeling with coach Claudio Ranieri is not comparable to that with France national coach Raymond Domenech: "He relegated me to the French B team and I felt very embarassed by this. Nobody understands, no one knows what France B is... you play in a small stadium with few people watching. Domenech humiliated me.

"There's a limit to everything. I've won a World Cup, a European championship, I played three seasons at high levels with Monaco, seven with Juve. What more do I need to demonstrate? I am 30 years old and with my kind of performance level, he lacked respect towards me. He makes the decisions, not me. I don't know if he will call me up for Italy-France, I'm not concerned with that. All I care about is giving my best and helping my club, Juventus, get back to the top."

Let me read again who wanted Trez sold?

Hehe! Never stoped beleving in him... He'll repay all believers!!!

How can someone want Canna the b*tch back, who left us for money, and wanted to sell Trez who kept on going with us all the time. And I don't want nobody to crap because he was salary burgain for Juve, because he and all the traitors could accept a salary cut, as Nedved & DP did... It'll all come in to surface. And I'm more disapointed because Canna definitely gaved a statement before Clciopoli that he would play with Juve in Serie B, which was redrawn after 1 day. Don't know why honestly. Maybe he changed his mind...
