Playing in the centre is different, you become directly responsible and in a position of more danger. Obviously we take the piss out of Bonucci in this position at times, but he has been a DC all of his pro career. Danilo found out last night that you have to do different things in this position.

Yes, Danilo should not be part of the two CBs. That hybrid Barzagli role suits him perfectly. It was an emergency in the back though, and he was the best candidate to fill in.

I chalk yesterday up to fatigue, the guys been playing non stop, in between traveling around the world. I don’t even remember the last game he had off. He’ll be fine, just give him a breather and let one of the kids play.
