well guys, he is good eventhough we cant judge him in serie B !!!!
but for sure he is not that player with creativity that Juve need badly in midfield !
we had enough of strong midfielders, we need creative ones...dont u agree?!!!
I remember that the last creative midfielder in Juve's shirt was Zizou!!!
The Zanetti thread is hardly the place but...........

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but Zidane was utter rubbish at Juve. We had too many players wanting the ball in the same space on the field, & it gave Roma, Lazio & Milan titles we should have had. If Lippi hadn't been so loyal, and Carletto so useless, we woulda had 3 stars by now. Davids, Zizou & Ale could NOT play together, plus this is the side which cost us Henry. All 4 players wanting to dictate the pace of the game, very poor football. While I admit the class of ZZ in the last decade, he never did it for us (the only bit I care about) on a consistant basis. Lippi is a truly great manager but cost us at the time I refer to.

As for true creative players, we now have two real gems. Hopefully a year in Serie B will keep them humble & hungry, ready for a continued assault on Serie A & Europe over the next few seasons. Of course I am talking about Marchionni & our Pirlo - Matteo Paro. If these 2 continue their great start in Juve, we have a great future.

Fiorentina eyeing Juventus midfielder Zanetti
tribalfooball.com - January 01, 2007

Fiorentina are interested in Juventus midfielder Cristiano Zanetti.
La Viola chief Pantaleo Corvino wants to bring in a new midfielder and while his No1 target is Roma's Daniele De Rossi, he understands that a more likely deal can be put together for Zanetti.

The stumbling block is the Italy international's wage demands, which are well outside Fiorentina's budget. The same problem has hit Corvino's interest for West Ham midfielder Javier Mascherano.

Oh, oh! Buffon, Trez, Camo, Bojinov, now Zanetti. I bet Gigli is rubbing his hands at the prospect of selling our players. Wake up time for Juventini!

Zanetti is always playing very solid. Nothing to complain about. Our midfield is more stable with him. Actually, I think Zanetti+Marchisio is our best couple in central midfield.

Good to have him fit again.

He can do a job for us next year, even if it is only as a rotation player.

Exactly. The only problem is that he is injury prone.

I don't see any reason would prevent our coach from fielding him as a regular starter except an injury. I didn't feel that we a have a centre midfield during his absence. As, Giannicedda does nothing but running, Paro couldn't fit in the Juve's playing style and Marchisio, despite being young, was our best centre midfielder during Zanetti's absence.

Zanetti just needs a solid man, who can defend well and makes play at the same time, to partner him in the centre midfield. I don't know if Almiron can be burdened with such a job or not.

Cristiano: Give us time
Monday 13 August, 2007
Juventus midfielder Cristiano Zanetti has rejected talk of the Bianconeri as title contenders and reiterated the goal of Champions League qualification.

The ex-Inter man’s appearance as a substitute coincided with the Old Lady’s fightback from a 2-0 defecit against Roma to finish 5-2 victors in Saturday’s friendly.

After a slightly uncertain pre-season, Juve’s dramatic return to form has seen Claudio Ranieri’s side reemerge amongst the favourites for the Scudetto, but Zanetti believes the Juventini must take one step at a time.

“It is a different kind of squad from the one of two seasons ago,” he told Tuttosport. “That was a side built to win everything, this is a team that could qualify for the Champions League this term and then look to win next year.

“This side is still growing and improving and the old and new components need to gel, but we have a solid base.”

The 30-year-old refused to comment on rivals Inter, but agreed with his teammates that his side shouldn’t fear anyone.

“I haven’t formed much of an opinion of Inter, because I haven’t watched much football on TV during pre-season and I’ve just been thinking of Juve,” he claimed.

“They did look solid during the Trofeo Birra Moretti, but we aren’t scared because we are Juve.”

Juventus midfielder Cristiano Zanetti gave his impressions, among other things, of the current squad and the possibility of acquiring some more reinforcements on the transfer market.

In last Saturday's friendly against Roma, in which Juve came back from 2-0 down to win 5-2, Zanetti's entrance was decisive in giving the Bianconeri's midfield more balance, but when asked about his own performance he was modest as always: "I don't think of myself as the most important player in the side. I have certain characteristics that allow me play at the service of the team, and I'm happy to do that. If my presence gives more balance, I'm happy about that."

He then compared the current squad to the one available before 'Calciopoli': "We should not think too much about the difference between now and two years ago. That Juventus team was assembled to win everywhere and always, while this team is aiming to qualify for the Champions League and win the year after that, although after Saturday's game we realised we are not inferior to anyone.

"This is a team that still has to improve and grow in many aspects: the initial attitude in certain games, paying attention in the defensive phase, the understanding between new and old players, but the basis is there and it's solid."

Which of the young players has been most impressive? "Criscito moves with great confidence, he's always very assured, never in difficulty, never panicking even in the trickiest situations. And he has a great left foot. He has to develop himself a little more physically to be able to battle it out with the best Serie A strikers. But he's growing well and with Andrade helping him out he will learn a lot.

"But anyway all of our youngsters are promising and also Nocerino is playing a lot. And Palladino is no longer a surprise."

Regarding coach Ranieri, whom he worked with at the start of his career at Fiorentina, he said: "You can really notice the great international experience he has accumulated in the meantime."

He also gave his impressions of Inter, the club he played for before the, in hindsight, somewhat unfortunate move to Juventus last summer: "I haven't seen them much of them actually, because in this period I don't watch much football on TV and I mostly think about Juventus.

"I was able to see them in Naples, during the Trofeo Moretti and they seemed very solid physically. In the tussles and on dead ball situations their athletic strength is impressive, as is their striking department. But from our part there is only respect, not fear, because Juve are still Juve."

Finally, asked whether he would prefer to reach a heroic second place with Juventus after a very hard-fought season or a predictable Scudetto with Inter's stellar outfit, he simply answered: "Better to win with Juve."
