I never compared their overall performance, I merely compared them by goals. It is objectively correct to point out that Higuain in his first stint scored as many non-penalty goals per game as Ronaldo has done. I am not speaking about overall performance, just goals. I find it quite amusing how hard you are stressing that overall performance and goals are not the same thing. Well perhaps you should keep the same energy when comparing Ronaldo to a player who is a million times better than him as an overall footballer (you know who).

As for Ronaldo being past his prime, nice of you to acknowledge that, but I don’t see how that’s relevant to the debate when you openly want him to extend his contract.
Well we paid 90m from Higuain and he scored 69 goals for us. Higuain was 28 at that time and now he plays in MLS at 33. Ronaldo was 33 when we signed him and has +100 goals past 3 seasons.

Higuain's move was the bigger "mistake" than Ronaldo's if people keep Ronaldo's transfer as a mistake. We paid 90m for Higuain before we paid 100m for Ronaldo, yet Ronaldo is the reason we do not have money.

It's a team sport, though. Seems like a lot of people forget that. I personally don't give a rats ass about his personal records and trophies. What I care about is that we have regressed massively since he got here.
My point is that some teams do very well if they're built around a superstar. We are not one of those teams.

The problem with this argument is that Ronaldo has not improved our goalscoring as a team.

When Ronaldo joined us in 2018, the stats merchants expected him to add 50 goals per season to Juventus. After all, that is what he is worth right?

What actually happened:

1. Ronaldo scores non-penalty goals at the same rate as Higuain did in his first stint here

2. These goals have come at the expense of the rest of the team scoring fewer goals, and when you look at the clip posted by @Juliano13 , you can understand why.

I can guarantee you that Messi would pass in the ball in that situation. While Messi is the greatest dribbler of all time, he is not selfish.
No arguments from me mate.. I agree.

Exactly, remember Ronaldo had peak Modric, kroos , casemiro and benzema at Real. Thats a whole different galaxy than what he has had to work with here.

The problem is we signed Ronaldo, but we didnt build a functioning team around him. It's honestly really poor planning from our management.

On top of that our coaches have been clueless.

I say cut our losses and put this experiment to bed. Rebuild the team with a solid foundation again.

It sucks that we could not win CL with him but it is what it is. We cant expect one single player to bring us glory while the rest of the team is totally unbalanced.

Ya he ain’t living so tuz better to be used him smashing records next season again. Must be total pain in the ass, especially when he plays for us. Imagine if he was playing for RM, the tears.

Again, no one is hating on Ronaldo, but we've clearly regressed as a team. It would be nice to not have to rely on one player 80% - 90% of the time. We are so predictable, and it shows in our play and our results.

For the amount of money we are paying him, we have vastly underachieved as a team, both domestically and abroad. Again, it's not a slight, just straight facts.

Blame the rest of the team, not CR7.

Thanks.

Are you sure we have underachieved? We sold our whole middlefield, some retired and rest were sold, our core got older and all we had was Matuidi, Emre Can, Khedira, Bonucci, Danilo, Benta, Berna etc. being constant starters. Literally all freebies or players we would not get more than 15m.

Could be even that we’ve overachieved. The expecation to win UCL is there, but there’s no favourite ever, just because how many top teams are competiting from it. We won our Scudettos with our core and Ronaldo coming to the Italy opened the gates for many others. Our league just became more interesting globally, he generated the hype and money where other teams benefitted as well.

We’re just in transistion period where RM will be, where Barca is and where other teams with strong cores will be. It’s never easy and actually winning 9 scudettos in row, them becoming more and more difficult and us losing more inevitable day by day, because it ain’t scottish premier league.

We’ve overachieved for quite a while.
