I agree. But Ronaldo's game changed over the years. It's strange to say but he was way more talented at United
I don't think he would have lost any of his ability even though his game changed. But yeah, obviously a supremely talented player, work ethic or not.

However it has been said that he wasn't even the most talented player in some of the teams he was at in his younger days.

I think the talent that people usually refer to in football means a natural ability, not so much the talent to work and train harder than everyone else. In that sense, being injury prone and having a weaker mindset has nothing to do with it. Also attitude/mindset are not wholly genetic traits but are influenced by environmental factors.

I don't think it's that incomprehensible why people would think Neymar has more natural talent than Ronaldo.
There can be a guy who is 35 and having hip replacement and a guy who's 55 with more similar training behind him nothing on his hips. That's also genetics, aka "talent". There's a definitely a reason that certain people get injuried more often, it ain't like we were designed to live 85 years and doing millions of reps with our body and it's crystal clear that some of the people just happen to have their bones broke way easier and having some minor injuries more often. If you look at the pro bodybuilders, it's more about the talent what's inside because even how hard you might train, you really never know how much your viscerals can take and at any moment, it might be end of story - that's "talent" as well.

You can identify "talent" as something what happens on the pitch, with ball on your feet as most of the people do, but it's just those most of the people. Most of the people aren't aware of what's actually happening when you get to the pro level, they only see the top of the mountain. It's not that simple as people might think to be the GOAT in the most competitive sports in the world, that it would just happen if you trained hard enough - not even close.

Yes, that's talent as well. It's just impossible to know how much of someone's success is due to talent, and how much is due to working harder than everyone else.

People look at Neymar who is a laid back, social media party boy and compare him to the most obsessive, dedicated athlete ever in Ronaldo. Ronaldo has had a lot more success, but on a given day they're comparable. I saw a stat recently that by their 28th birthdays, in 601 games Ronaldo scored 339 goals, while in 588 games Neymar scored 368. Of course these stats have limited value, but it's not hard to see how people can think Neymar's talent had carried him this far, while relative the work Ronaldo puts in, he is coasting.

Not trying to downplay Ronaldo's talent or even suggest that he is less talented than Neymar, but if he wasn't the training freak that he is, he would probably have played his whole career as the winger he was at Man U.

As i said, Neymar might be little bit differently "talented" as Ronaldo is, but not in overall and it will be something we need to discuss about, because it's just how it is. There's definitely some areas of everyone's game where guy x has better abilities. I think Ronaldo might not even be the best athlete in football but since he is the whole package, he is the GOAT. Then when you combine all of those things, Ronaldo will always come on top in this generation. Goals ain't everything, Ronaldo is a goalscorer but we should also remember when he has scored those goals instead of just looking at the statistics. He always seems to score them when needed, therefore he is more valuable to their team than the rest and if you wanted to bring one guy to do-or-die you'd still pick 35 year old Ronaldo over anybody. That's "talent" as well, it's what MJ had in basketball or how Djokovic always seems to save the match points in crucial moments, it's just some ridiclous stuff you can't even teach, train or anything, it's just inside you.
