Honestly, if the Nations League counts as an international trophy, then you can probably count the Olympics too, which Messi won in 2008.
Ronaldo should probably count himself lucky to finish on the Ballon D’Or podium this year.
Ronaldo should probably count himself lucky to finish on the Ballon D’Or podium this year.
Seriously, if you can win a Ballon D'or, UEFA Player of the year and FIFA the best by scoring 2 goals in whole 2018 like Modric did, you should be able to win it as a defender with 10 goals, UCL title, 2nd place in the best league in the world and having been in the finals of only NT tournament of the year in Europe. Having Ronaldo and Messi in the top 3 is absolutely ridiclous and considering Messi having 12 more goals in 9 more games in 2019 while not winning a thing compared to Ronaldo, who atleast won something isn't any better just because if goals mattered more, Lewandowski would have been up there as well but he wasn't so since it wasn't the goals and it wasn't the trophies won, It's quite clear that 2 of the most popular players are in the top 3, so why should Ronaldo call himself lucky and Messi not? Ronaldo actually have 5 Ballon D'or worthy seasons by winning UCL + being the top scorer of the tournament every single time of those, then winning Euro2016, couple league titles etc on top of that in those seasons while scoring +50 goals
a season and he clearly was the most decisive player out there instead of just piling up these stats against the low budget teams meanwhile Messi, who has 3x UCL, no NT title and just La Ligas and La Liga games where he has scored tons of goals on his belt but never really carried his team on the most meaningful games when it comes to UCL, has won 6 Ballon D'ors because of La Liga, which again is massive lols in my opinion just because having 3x UCL and 6 Ballon D'ors and zero NT titles means there's atleast 3 season when he didn't win nothing but La Liga and as i said earlier, it's something he is expected to do doing so, he is expected to score tons of goals in there against the low budget teams so if the best player in the world is determined about how you perform against bottom tier teams, how you can even be considered as the best player/fighter unless you fight against the best? You are only good as your opponent is the old saying and if you're only good at La Liga, there's no way you can be the best player in the world and it's simple as that.
