oh for god sake, buy grosso or dossena instead (although i really dont like both player), but is better than we dont purchase on devensive sector
Um, no. I dont want us to buy a player just for the sake of it. If we're going to spend, lets get someone who will actually perform well as a fullback and has a good number of years left.

pretty much...and I don't really care about his offensive abilities to be honest...we don't need a Dani Alves kind of player...it would be nice, but hey with a MF and FW lineup like ours, if we are still struggling to create chances and are expecting our wingbacks to provide attacks, then we're screwed anyway

Well, you can't expect us to channel all our attacks through Diego. You need diversity, and width provides that, but with Moli and Grygera we won't be getting any decent attacing support from our fullbacks. In the modern game, the whole team needs to push forward. We can't rely on Melo giving the ball to Diego, and Diego creating all the time. There have to be alternatives, and no, Del Piero scoring from a free kick or winning us a penalty is not one of them. I am talking about viable alternatives that can formulate part of a game plan. I personally believe that if we are struggling to break down the opposition, we should bring on Gio and Camo for a stiker and a DM. In that respect we can play 4-2-3-1; provides more width, frees up more space for Diego, and in the process creates more opportunities for the lone striker. However, we should only use this formation in certain games, and during the course of a game where we are having difficulties breaking down opponents.

His had all the time to work on that for the last decade, but he FAILED!!

He is just not into that and personally, i am not at all convinced with his defensive abilities either! He can cant perform a sliding tackle, he cant intercept air balls, he cant anticipate the enemy opposition moves.

He is just running up and down like a puppy...
He is a runner not defender, but ppl think that defenders ought to be useless...

At this particular formation, we are going to filed, the support from our fullbacks is essential, to present a multi-dimensional threat from all fronts!
Without any threat from the flanks, all the opposition have to do, is put their DM on Diego...

You expect what? That in 4-3-1-2 wingbacks will sit back and defend? If you were Juve coach I would settle for fair relegation battle asap!

y'all are behaving like he gets a bout of Tourette's when he has the ball at his feet...he can do the simple things well enough, he just sucks at crossing

Oh come on, one can't deny you need full-backs who can attack and cross the ball in the 4-3-1-2. Getting GOOD service from them is extremely important.

Who here truly believes Molinaro can provide consistent service from the left flank? And I don't mean consistently bad service, because I already know the more probable answer.

FFS just please get somebody else, even Grosso. I mean I don't even care anymore, get anybody.

grygera and Zebina both offer something going forward, and are generally sturdy when it comes to basic defending...Defending on the ground, in the air, running side by side an opponent, reading the play. Both of them are OK when it comes to passing..I saw Grygera make several decent crosses last season in the games where he got forward...his problem was Marchionni, who was flimsy, unable to maintain possession and lacking creativity. For a winger that is a poor mix. very poor. With stronger players in the middle of the park, it will be easier for our right back and left back to bomb forward. Simple 1-2s were near impossible with Marchionni. But they will be possible with melo, Diego...and increasingly so, with Marchiso, and who knows, Tiago...So the right side MAY BE OK.

On the left however. our only hope is De Ceglie. Who has pace, stamina, and can put in beautiful crosses. He has the potential to be a decent left back but his defensive game needs A LOT OF WORK. Still, he has the capacity to support the attacks on the left flank, especially as Chiellini can happily drop to left back when De Ceglie goes on a run, and Momo, or Melo can sit deeper with Cannavaro to cover the gap in the middle. Still...if molinaro plays, in the new system, we are in trouble. we can simply cast of the left flank as an attacking option. Because i have seen many games where he simply cannot pass in a straight line, even over a small distance. I agree with Cronius...Molinaro's only strength is RUNNING. He is a terrible player, and I am sure that no other decent team would be considering starting him.

we can only hope that De Ceglie has a decent pre season, and improves his defensive game, then gets the nod to START as our left back come august...With Marchionni gone, Molinaro is definately the weakest link in the potential starting XI...
