I don't see us getting Crespo though. He wants to play for Inter and they want him. He's getting on in age and he wants to win the CL before he retires. Yeah I know, it's Inter, but being in the CL automatically gives him a better chance of winning it with them than with us. :D

Hope I can forward him this post at the right time.

considering the levels that hes been playing at that is not a bad return at all, just under a goal every two games, you must also consider he didnt really settle in england and most of the chelsea apps are off the bench. His record in european football is incredibly impressive and he also creates danger which isnt written in those stats for the defenders, trully one of the best centre forwards of our generation and i have always admired the way he plays

Crespo is without doubt one of the finest finishers the world has seen in the last 10odd years. He has been extremley impressive wherever he was played, other than Chelsea.Stats may not tell the entire story, but they dont lie either.Crespo is a great finisher despite his age,and i dont care if he ends up playing for more clubs than Corradi did,he is still a brilliant finisher and id welcome him at Juventus without thinking twice.

I'll put the loyalty thing aside. I didn't disvalue him as a player in all my previous posts, and when I was commenting on yours, I meant that he has been no longer the same poacher as his days at both Parma and Lazio. Even at Milan he was better. Although, he is still one of the top finishers of nowadays.

But I'm wondering why most of us here disvalue Toni, whereas at the same time, we don't do the same with Crespo? Despite the fact that the former has been stunning during the previous seasons and in this season too. I know that his transfer fee would be high, but I'm talking about a value generally.

Anyways, I was pro Toni. But now, he is most probably on his way to Munich. And I don't know about Crespo, it maybe a rumour at the end. Actually, I hope we can sign Huntelaar and to keep Trezeguet. This is the most realistic option available, in my opinion.

Crespo is at a higher level than Toni IMO.Crespo has been a prolific goal scorer virtually all his career. The same cant be said about Toni.He only exploded into life some years ago.Plus Crespo comes with more top level experience than Toni, and much better looking career stats as far as goals are concerned.

i highly doubt this i think if we let trez go we should buy both gilardino and huntelaar
They are both young so they have got years left but they have both proven themselves very reliable so a paring of them even if one of them has a bad time here then we have the other.

he definately isnt at that level anymore, his form with those two clubs were superb and in a way its a shame he couldnt maintain that standard.

as for the toni issue i agree he is a brilliant striker but i agree with salaman that he has only recently turned into the player he is, its very unusual for a striker to only make a real name for himself at 29/30, he would be good but also very expensive whereas crespo may well arrive on a free / minimal fee as chelsea are resigned to losing him anyway, just they would rather not to their direct champions league rivals! cheers chelsea!

Toni didn't shine at that age, he did two years earlier since he was at Palermo. And for him to shine at that late age, this isn't the point, it's happened and this is the headline. Anyhow, back to Crespo, I said in my last post that he is still a top finisher, he would be free or with a very low fee considering his sensitive situation, what is more. Still, I can't imagine him in the Bianconeri's jersey though.

Edit: Another thing here, Toni is the same age as Trezeguet, both are two years younger than Crespo.

Juve will never buy Crespo unless they're not picking up Huntelaar. Personally I'd go for youth but its surprising we're not linked with other strikers of Huntelaar's age range in order to bring down his price and ease the contract negotiations. We have to concentrate on our defense and midfield because I think with Trez, DP and Palladino we have a strong enough foundation considering our non-european competition the next year. Huntelaar or another striker of his calibre would be enough for next season so that we can allocate enough funds to the rest of the team.

Imagine he comes here and then he scores a Hattrick against both Milan and Inter. That would be one of the best moments for us.

Chelsea release Crespo - for Juve!
    Saturday 5 May, 2007

Chelsea may be willing to release Hernan Crespo this summer, but not to join Inter, rather for a move to their rivals Juventus!

The Argentine is currently on loan to the San Siro side and has publicly begged owner Roman Abramovich to let him stay in Italy on a permanent basis.

Chelsea are eager to have him back in the squad to help cover for Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou during the African Cup of Nations.

The cut-off for Crespo’s future is on May 31, when the Stamford Bridge outfit must decide whether to use its option to recall him or leave the striker to Inter for the final year of his contract.

According to the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’, the situation is far more complicated than it may at first appear.

They claim agent Fernando Hidalgo inserted a special clause in the contract stating that if Chelsea recalled Crespo, it would mean extending his deal until 2010, adding £12m to their wage bill.

However, another Italian newspaper has a different take on the affair, as ‘Tuttosport’ splashes across its front page this morning the suggestion that Juventus are behind it.

The Bianconeri would be willing to pay for that contract extension in order to take Crespo on loan as a partner for Ajax star Jan Klaas Huntelaar next season.
