I was reading the back of a post-it package and I found the following (and I quote):
"Post-it" and the color canary yellow are registered trademarks of 3M.


HA! Post-it beat you punks at Crayola! :D

Now, what I'm wondering is.. why would someone want to trademark a color?

    So any aspiring "sticky note" makers can't capitalise on the international recognisability of the Post-It note canary yellow by using the same colour for their brand of notes

    You can't patent a color.
