"Post-it" and the color canary yellow are registered trademarks of 3M.


HA! Post-it beat you punks at Crayola!

Now, what I'm wondering is.. why would someone want to trademark a color?

So any aspiring "sticky note" makers can't capitalise on the international recognisability of the Post-It note canary yellow by using the same colour for their brand of notes

You can't patent a color.

You can't patent a color.

They didn't patent the color, they patented the name of the color, and the way in which it is used.

So Post-it can only use that color on THEIR message papers, no one else can.
