Were they all in high risk groups?
They were all over 55 except one person that was 34.

I don't really know if they had any underlying conditions tbh.

It didn't help that the government bought (corruptly) overpriced ventilators that weren't suitable for ICUs. What a shit show.

Imagine a 2.5 million population city relying on 20 something ICUs. That's what happened for a while here.

My maths teacher passed away a month ago from covid.

At least 5 people that I personally know have passed away due to covid.

I guess it's not as surprising when you realize that Bolivia is third on the ranking of deaths/population.

You can go clubbing now tho
Bummer. Without the support systems, catching it in a vulnerable class is like a death sentence.

Sorry for your losses

We just had a report came out over here from the NSO that our death rate is probably around 10-11K instead of the 6,5K the government/politicians had been reporting for the past months. That would actually make our death per capita similar to that of the US/Sweden, health care systems we always described immoral in every debate. We won't publicly acknowledge we're putting up the same numbers and we're doing things blatantly wrong.

One of the worst things during this crisis is the lack of correct data which makes it virtually impossible to say anything about a country's situation. Various country's have been hiding up positives cases way too much for my likings.

Well, does anyone trust the numbers the Serbian governments reports though? 750 deaths on a population 9 million when countries with a similar population like Switzerland are reporting over 2.000 deaths or Israel has reported 1.500 deaths seems way too good to be true

Let me ask a question: Are you trusting on any numbers?

I do. I think the Italian numbers are pretty accurate as they track/trace and test all close contacts if you have been in contact with someone who is infected with Covid-19. Which gives much more of an idea of the spread in the community.

Although I have to say I'm quite a pessimist in general and mostly at home the past 6 months.

So, you trust when the numbers are high and being pessimistic about the numbers when it seems "too" low.

Not entirely. I tend to trust the numbers more when testing is easily accessible for every age group/demographic in the community. I think the Italian model of testing sure gives you a better image of the risks and spread in the community.

Example: my country only tests those who are symptomatic, aged above 13 and due to lack of capacity you'd probably need to wait more than 4-5 days. Meaning we miss out on every asymptomatic case, pre-symptomatic cases, infections in children etc. The numbers we're reporting are just the minimum.

    Ever seen the show Utopia?
I have not, but it looks interesting. Will have to add it to my watch list.

    I do believe it's deliberately.

But so far it's not a big number to make a huge impact unless the virus mutates. It's not as great as Genghis Khan.
South Park made light of this in their pandemic special, with the only people dying are obese uncles who were going to die anyway.

Just came across this map which shows the infections per million inhabitants based on a 7-day average in various European. Only the Spanish (who have imposed regional lockdowns) and the Czech do worse than us (NL) and we still have issues with testing. The real numbers would probably be higher if we could test everybody.
