It wasn’t until now?
Mandatory, no. It was advised and many people were doing it, but numbers had been lower on all but the busiest routes (trains into London etc.). Most buses I've seen go past have a couple of people on them at most.

This is to precede the increasing number of people going back to work and the imminent opening of schools. Some schools have opened, but it differs from council to council, and parents are within their rights currently to refuse their child going back to school.

I'd be quite happy to permanently wear a face mask on the train here.

46% increase in hospitalizations in Texas since memorial day. State is still using a fraction of the hospital beds so it's not doom and gloom yet.

Not good news on the Covid front...

    • BBG warns 4 states show signs of second wave
    • Mumbai surpasses case total from Wuhan as Indian outbreak worsens
    • Bangladesh, Jakarta reports record jump in new cases
    • Germany expands warning on international travel to non-European countries
    • 9 states see COVID hospitalizations hit record highs
    • National guardsmen deployed in Washington DC test positive
    • AP weighs in on WHO's latest flip-flop
    • Gottlieb warns Texas on the brink of losing control of the outbreak
    • Greater New York area continues to bend the curve

Once all these schools try to open up, guaranteed there will be a spike in cases as well. So the question will be whether we let it run its course or shut down everything again.

I think businesses will remain open, but government-related entities like schools will probably shut down again as not doing so will probably make teachers angry.

Yea but think of all the parents who now actually have to raise the little shits they birthed. No affordable child care in this country, they must be seething.

This is all by design though. Only idiots like Trump thought the virus would magically disappear one day. It's still out there and circulating, waiting for fresh meat. The primary reason we opened stuff up is because experts think we can let the infection and death rate rise a bit without collapsing the health care system. (The economy is, actually, secondary.) So it's all working exactly as planned.

The question is if we'll have to put on the brakes again and do so before it's too late and we all go NYC.

Apparently people with blood group A+ have the highest risk of getting fucked by Corona.
Indigenous Americans screwed over again. No wonder why the Columbus statues are coming down.
