We had a huge push in vaccinations. About 80% of the adult population has taken one dose. Only half of those have completed the second dose though. We also had city wide curfews and lockdowns, followed by localised containment zones when the numbers were really high a couple of months ago. Officially, the numbers have gone down drastically now. As the case with most official numbers, it's hard to tell if it has really gone down or if the government has stopped counting. That said, hospitals, at least in my city, are running well below capacity and the make-shift covid hospitals have been closed. A couple of months ago we had to scramble to find a bed and oxygen cylinders. No longer the case now.
When people here took one dose they pretty much said it's useless until you get 2nd one. Also, isn't 40% quite low number for such a huge country?

Either way, I'm glad you're out of the shit you had for quite a while.

Ok, watch this (only 4 minutes) and tell me again that this is BS

You have to realize that majority of people will dismiss the news entirely simply because they took two shots already so they will get to blame bad studies & anti-vaxxer campaign when it comes to it. I highly doubt any major TV station will cover it too simply because it doesn't suit their narrative to force people to get a shot.

I know but when a major cardiologist comes out and says that in the cardiology research centers specialists are choosing to suppress data because they are afraid to lose their research money then you start to see that the slogan "follow the science" is a gigantic ponzi scheme used by big corporations and big governments to treat people like livestock.

I take 3000 ius year round, the good thing with vit D is you can stock it.
I take Vit D and Mg daily all year round. I am thinking of adding B
There are quite a few interesting studies suggesting a much much higher Vitamin D intake is required to be at optimal Nmol/L levels.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28768407/

Since 2006, type 1 diabetes in Finland has plateaued and then decreased after the authorities’ decision to fortify dietary milk products with cholecalciferol. The role of vitamin D in innate and adaptive immunity is critical. A statistical error in the estimation of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for vitamin D was recently discovered; in a correct analysis of the data used by the Institute of Medicine, it was found that 8895 IU/d was needed for 97.5% of individuals to achieve values ≥50 nmol/L. Another study confirmed that 6201 IU/d was needed to achieve 75 nmol/L and 9122 IU/d was needed to reach 100 nmol/L. The largest meta-analysis ever conducted of studies published between 1966 and 2013 showed that 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels <75 nmol/L may be too low for safety and associated with higher all-cause mortality, demolishing the previously presumed U-shape curve of mortality associated with vitamin D levels. Since all-disease mortality is reduced to 1.0 with serum vitamin D levels ≥100 nmol/L, we call public health authorities to consider designating as the RDA at least three-fourths of the levels proposed by the Endocrine Society Expert Committee as safe upper tolerable daily intake doses. This could lead to a recommendation of 1000 IU for children <1 year on enriched formula and 1500 IU for breastfed children older than 6 months, 3000 IU for children >1 year of age, and around 8000 IU for young adults and thereafter. Actions are urgently needed to protect the global population from vitamin D
This article from Steven Low is filled with links to studies old and new on vitamin D’s effect on athletic performance and other such things.

It’s interesting that the body will produce up to approximately 10000 iu/day from natural sunlight in the warmer months, and for fair-skinned people it only takes about 20 minutes of half-body exposure to do this and then the body stops production. Which to me would suggest 10,000 iu is the natural safe limit of the body.

Starting to feel my ears popping and nose having less pressure, so hopefully congestion is starting to heal. The hangover-like headache isn't as bad and I'm not as tired today. Some smell and taste might be coming back as well (hopefully).

My wife has been testing and she continues to be negative. She had a booster though. I also might not be that contagious as well since nobody else we've seen has been positive. So I'm fully convinced I got this from someone unvaccinated, and now the antibodies from the vaccine are squashing the virus' efficacy.
I'm sorry about Paris. At least your symptoms are manageable by the sound of it, though I'm sure the lack of ability to taste or smell interferes with your cooking. Get well soon
Thanks man. Really, the disruption of taste and smell are the worst things for me. As a foodie I'm pretty much dead without it.

Damn, that sucks. That said, great thing you're vaccinated. That should make the ride pretty smooth I hope.

France could soon by a s*t show given the latest news... you just don't know.
Very well could be. Cases are on the rise there, too, so I could have picked it up over there which would have been even worse. So that, along with the weather being rainy in France for the next week, makes me want to wait until Spring anyway. Hopefully they can get the lockdowns underway and then open back up in April/May.

Can you get your hands on prednisolone? Id say go with that and 2000 iu's of vit D.
I don't think I can, but I have been popping C, D, and Zinc pills throughout the day. Going to continue doing that, and also look up some better multi-vitamins like the one you suggested. I think I need more B as well since I'm probably considered a heavy drinker by the docs.

Taking the recommended amounts based on the label seems to not work in some cases.

    Thanks sir.

I've been taking 10 000 IU for more than a year. No problems so far.
I have always found it bizarre that recommended dose is still only like 800iu for adults. Which leads blood levels to be severely deficient in the winter months. Summer too if you don’t get much sun.

We’ve known for years that the body produces up to 10,000 iu/day when exposed to UVB for fairly short periods each day, so having a recommended intake of 800iu and maximum safe intake listed of 2000iu is pretty counter-intuitive.

Signed up for a blood test, been on 1000 ius supplement (none in summer). Very curious what's gonna come out of it.

    Where are you from?

You can't possibly know that, that's BS. Just because your wife didn't get it doesn't mean that vaccine is a miracle from the sky. Even before vaccine came out my co-worker got it, his mom was next to him 24/7 scared shitless, literally next to him, and she didn't get it.

Covid can be caught totally randomly from both vaccinated and unvaccinated.
