We fucked an almost perfect season up in the end, thanks to some fucked up decisions by Conte and ref.

Borriello is a plot against Juventus and our shitty striker deparment is over crowded since 2006.
Estigarribia should not be bought. Lichtsteiner is useless at right side of 3-5-2. We should have stick with 4-3-3 as we don't have quality wing backs.
What a coincidence.

Disappointing but not devastating. It was expected that Napoli will push more for the win after their disappointing season and that we will be still drunk from our amazing season. Even with these conditions we still showed up and tried making the match as even as it gets. The thing that makes me most disappointed is that was Del Piero's last match and it ended like that, ironic but considering how many finals this guy has lost ...

I thought Lichtsteiner was our worst player today together with Vidal and Marchisio who gave the ball away too cheaply and made a lot of mistakes.

Storari 5.5

Barzagli 6.5
Bonucci 5.5
Caceres 5.5

Lichtsteiner 4
Vidal 5
Pirlo 6
Marchisio 5
Estigarribia 5.5

Del Piero 5.5
Borriello 5.5

Pepe 6
Vucinic 5
Quagliarella 5
I would give Marchi,Vidal and Licht all 4's, very very bad display. Pirlo was playing on his own for the whole 1st half,Esti was always too isolated.. I just wanted the players with any kind of starting 11,to always show hunger, and more heart,At least Borri who was crap, yes, showed hunger and wanted to win,I didnt see it with most others,I really feel bad and disappointed it ended like this for Alessandro Del Piero.. He wanted the win,you all saw that when he pumped up the Fans!

About the first squad-coppa squad dilemma, you need to think about both the trust Conte has earned as well as the chemistry of the team. The Coppa team won their way into the final, they were promised to play the cup. I think it would've been shameful by Conte to strap them from the final they had got to.
Promising players spots is entitlements. It's sentimentality. It ties the hands of the coach so he does not pick what he thinks is the best squad to win, but one that -- at least in part -- meets the expectations and demands of his players.

If you create this kind of entitlement mentality in your players, what are you going to do when the Champions League comes around?

It's not that I don't care about team unity. We have that in spades this season, so we didn't need to make the Coppa Final a sacrificial lamb to that. People follow leaders because they win, regardless of how you get there. Conte doesn't need to run a popularity contest/campaign in his locker room. If your drive to win starts taking a backseat to your drive to appease promises you've made to players, you've already lost before you even stepped onto the pitch.

I thought Esti did very well in keeping Maggio quiet and put it in a few decent crosses, we never used our flanks much the entire game, instead looking to go through the middle which was overloaded.

I do agree with what you're saying, I'm just attempting to bring positiveness to the situation. Hate all the negativity, especially on Alex's final game.. I don't really have a case for what I said, unfortunately. But, I can't stay sad thinking about the game and how the team played or Conte's tactics. I can only think about Alex, and force myself to think of all the fond memories I have of him and not about how he has lost yet another final..

FFS people, this wasn't a "Coppa team". If it was Giaccherini should have started because he was a regular in the Coppa.

Conte simply couldn't allow not to play Del Piero. And it's Del Piero's presence in the first team that resulted with all the other decisions (Storari instead of Buffon and not to play 4-3-3).

swag, I see your point, but to answer your question "what are you going to do when the Champions League comes around?"

You know damn well that he wouldn't have created an entitlement mentality in players for such an important tournament. He didn't do it for the Serie-A either. This was just the coppa italia, and I for one think it's important that a lot of second string players can feel during the course of a season that they have a shot in playing in a tournament such as that one.

What has Del Piero to do woth Storari playing instead of Buffon?

I agree that playing Del Piero forced him to play a 3-5-2 and thus Estigarribia and Borriello together with a fucked up role for Lichtsteiner.

there was nothing wrong with the team other than Borriello, the game was on a knife edge until the PK.

they were not that superior to us, it was always going to be a rough match decided by small moments.

Let's be clear here that Conte and team have had one of the greatest seasons in Juve history.

That said, everybody makes mistakes. Today was a lot of mistakes. It should be a wake-up call that next year is going to be a lot harsher on us.

Well, if Conte didn't start Storari, then why would he start Del Piero?

They went in a package. The pressure was big to play Del Piero this year. Conte handled it well, but had to give him at least the Coppa. Then a story was created how some players need to get playing time, how the Coppa is for that, bla, bla, bla. In order not to make it only about Del Piero, other players (in this case Storari) were put in the same situation as Del Piero.

In short, if Conte played Buffon instead of Storari, then all the crap from above would have been nullified. Storari's presence on the pitch tonight was a consequence of Del Piero's presence. If Conte didn't have the Del Piero problem this year, we were never gonna have the crap about "Coppa players" and Buffon was gonna be on goal against Roma, Milan and Napoli tonight.
