And nobody shoud shoulder the blame besides Ranieri.

As Holdon said, you can't judge a player who is benched unjustifiably all season and never given a chance, even as a sub.
I won't actually blame Ranieri because Nocerino and Zanetti are doing a superb job. There is absolutely no need to change a winning combination, especially a one that has an important role in the type of team we have.

Ranieri failed today, you can't field 11 random players and expect them to perform well together. The players hardly put in an effort either though, simple passes were going all over the place.

Young Marchisio bossed Tiago and Almiron into submission. Tiago and Almiron lack functionality.

Tiago has an idea what football is, he tries, he gives all he can. Almiron is clueless, never tries and he has nothing to give.

I think its time to put almiron on free market.

Tiago also i cant see him having a key role in this juve side. Even in the future, zanetti is good and nocerino has much more potential. And in all honesty i like what i see from zanetti and nocerino more, then what i see from tiago. I think the league doesnt suit him. He was good with lyon but never established with chelsea either.

I am starting to think bringing a extra DM, like sissoko or gilberto might not be that bad idea after all.

I think we will qualify, if we play our first XI in the second leg, but you shouldnt really play your first XI in coppa games.

This is a result we didn't deserve. The last 5-10 minutes aside, this was probably our worst match of the season.
I wasn't nervous at all though. I guess i don't care about Coppa :)

Almiron was my MOM :D
What a terribile performance. I think he had something like 15 bad passes and the way he defends.... even Pirlo plays better defense.

Alex was invisibile for most parts of the match but he was still our best player on this match, imo.
Grygera, Criscito, Birindelli and Salihamidzic were very bad tonight. Marchionni was another disappointment.

All in all, not deserved result for us. Not that Empoli created many chances but we deserved a defeat by 2 for the way we played.

Oh, and Forza Iaquinta

Why not bring Marchisio who owned the midfield tonight?

and for that i hope tiago either starts more, or leavees so that he can further his career, he isnt a bench player and shouldnt be for us.

Tiago played better then Nocerino last two matches in Seriea A but yet again he was benched again and he will be again this sunday.

I only caught the last 30 mins. of the game..it felt like none of the players wanted to be there...after almiron got sent off i saw no ball play really in the mid..it was just long ball the defense would take it and send it up to DP and Iaqunita surrounded by 4 - 5 empoli players..It looked like a bunch of scrub players hittng the field and playing for the first time..

well, at least we got an away goal to help us out in the next leg at home..

Marchionni should have played on the left to actually have someone who can do something up front, Grygera is just useless on the wing and Salihamidzic is not good on the left. Also Sali has played on the right why put him on the left all of a sudden. Birindelli with a player like Sali in front of him might have worked better because they can exchange roles, with Marchionni it does not work because Marco cannot defend.

I agree about Almiron getting the MOM.

well in ranieri`s defence, some players havent had much chance to play (you know who i mean), so it was their chance. And lets not forget we have a serie a game in 3 days, so its good that some starting XI players got some rest.

Because we wont fight Empoli every match day.
I like Marchisio, a lot, i ve seen what he can do, but i believe we need to get rid of the junk and buy decent player, a player that would bench Nocerino hands down,
Marchiso may take Almiron's place, but he is not ready for a starter yet...

Defensively, our fb's were shit, with only a slightly better performance by Legro and Criscito, but nothing special.
Even if we had Alves and Zambrotta playing as our fb's tonight, I dont think it would have made that much of a difference considering how poor the rest of the team were. It was a walk through midfield, so all things considered, any blame shouldered on our cb's must be taken with a pinch of salt.

In a game where they needed to impose themselves, Almiron and Tiago didn't stand out. Yes they dont have the luxury of consistent playing time to ride, but there was little effort put in by either of them, and u could barely tell they were on the pitch in the 1st half. 1 of them is leaving in January, probably Almiron since an in form Tiago is more useful to our squad than in form Almiron.

Giovinco should be brought back to Juve in January. He looked a threat all match. He cut through our mid with his runs, and he weighed his passes perfectly. His crosses were better than anything Ive seen from our starters all season, and u could tell Juve were getting scared when they started to foul him alot in the 2nd half.

Iaquinta's away goal will see us through, granted Ranieri dresses a stronger lineup in the return leg. Our poorest performance of the season, and it puts the quality of our depth into perspective.

The team Ranieri put out really didn't make sense now that I think about it. Tiago-Almiron and DP-Palla can't work together.

Now I'm hearing that Salihamidzic played on the left. What was Ranieri thinking?
