I have been saying this for a while but its about time FIFA did something about using video evidence in big tournaments.

Football is a low scoring game, and 1 refereeing error like this determines the winner. I don't see why that for every goal scored, the game continues while the video evidence is assessed and the goal annulled if it is determined that the goal was illegitimate. This can happen while the game continues and would only take a minute or two anyway.

Also, I would go a step further and allow each team 2 appeals for any disallowed goals or penalty decisions.

To me this is common sense and should not slow the overall flow of the game.

I think if you ask most football fans out there - most would agree with increased use of video evidence so long as it done in such a way to prevent the game from slowing down too much. It amazes me that football is still in the dark ages when it comes to using technology.

Exactly, you can have challenges like in tennis, 2 each in a game, if youre right you keep it, it youre wrong you lose it

:D Thought the same.

Did they actually use a replay? Because all the replays clearly showed handball.
Two weren't clear for me. The third was.

Oh fuck no. People want to sterilize the sport for fat asses who watch on TV on the other side of the planet and can tell people at the stadium the truth of the 37 slow motion replays they saw in their false sense of superiority. It's as pathetic as people who read a Buzzfeed article or watch a Netflix mockumentary about a court case and feel entitled to dismiss an entire trial and justice system that they had served no part in.

You weren't there. Slow motion isn't reality. Humans aren't infallible. TV cameras also aren't infallible. There isn't some universal perfect truth you can shave off to the nearest micron. Video replays are just masturbatory truth theater for people who couldn't bother to show up to the match.

Besides the blown PK call that should have happened against Brazil in the first half, Brazil shouldn't have been so clumsy as to allow a goal-scoring opportunity that happened save for the hidden bodypart that finally hit the ball into the goal in combination. They had ample opportunity to take the lead if not also tie up the match. So you can argue the accuracy of the call, but I wouldn't call the result undeserved by any means.
