Filadelfia is how the Italians spell Philadelphia (which is in America). In this case they refer to an old stadium.

Article says that both Juve and Torino teams think that the Communale stadium is too small for teams in Serie A and perhaps both Juve and Torino can work together to re-do degli Alpi. It may be a reasonable idea and will be discussed.

Cairo also wants to discuss the idea of re-doing the old Filadelfia. He will meet in the next few days with Montabone (whoever he is) to make a valuation to the project.

wasn`t the stadio filadelfia the stadium we played a long time ago???
No... Filadelfia was Torino's stadium from 1926 til 1958... Hence why torino's Curva at the delle alpi is named filadelfia... As it was at the old comunale and indeed in its present reincarnation...

The fans and players love the communale and we also did not have much more than 25.000 spectators in the delle alpi at most matches. when we have a really big match we can move to the delle alpi.
Whilst comunale is great for the players... How exactly do you come to the conclusion that the fans love it?

We have averaged 16000 there so far... Jus over 2/3rds full including away fans... Oh yes everyone loves the place

The stadium is not a football stadium... the view is poor or obscured in numerous sections...

Fans at the ground are continually voicing their dislike for the stadium...

As for the atmosphere... Yes its better for the players... Or in the rich seats... But everyone thats used to sitting on scirea 2 at delle alpi will tell you they would rather go home...

Its a rubbish football stadium and the sooner we leave there and i for one no longer have to sit in that arena the better...

Truely why DA was never full, not even in derbies, why is that, are you guys really that far from the stadium to attend matches?

You better change your signature cause in the last 20 years Inter wasnt the part of Italy Big Three, and they didnt compete for Scudetto!

They competed for a 3rd place...

thanx for the explanation paul.

I was in the delle alpi and in the communale. I would not want to return to the delle alpi if it does not get restructured. I enjoyed watching football in the communale much more than in the delle alpi. The communale is not the stadium of my dreams but it is okay for the moment.

A stadium with torino is not the best solution but if we do not have the money and there is no other chance to get a good football stadium without running track we should think about it. On the other side building a stadium with another club that is not financially stable can be a big risk (like the allianz arena in munich). Moreover the stadium we build should not be a compromise. It should be a stadium in which we can play more than 20 years and with which we are happy with. We played long enough in a stadium we were not happy with.

After a meeting between Juventus and Torino, the new Stadio Olimpico in Turin may have to face a new plan for the future – retirement!

Both teams are understood to be unhappy with the arena which they have decided to share for the 2006-07 campaign.

Juventus have already stated that they will return to the 67,000 capacity Stadio Delle Alpi, which they now own, in the future and Toro want to follow.

The new Stadio Olimpico, built for the Winter Olympics on the site of the old Comunale, is considered as too small with only 27,000 seats – and some of the views from the lower tiers are restricted.

“We are working, together with Juventus, on some projects because the Stadio Olimpico is not what we want,” said Torino President Urbano Cairo.

“Rebuilding the Delle Alpi could be a good idea.”

Juventus were set to start a £100m redevelopment of the Delle Alpi in May, but work was suspended following their costly relegation to Serie B.

Meanwhile, Cairo recently made improvements to the Stadio Filadelfia – where the Great Torino used to play – and it is the President’s intention to use the site for Torino’s academy.

“The Filadelfia is the ideal place for us to create our own museum and a training ground for our team,” added the Granata chief.

“I will have a meeting with the Turin Council in the next few days to discuss that possibility.”

The off-field future of Torino seems well planned out, but Cairo could make a new shocking decision.

There have been whispers about a possible new Coach after the team’s terrible start to the season.

Alberto Zaccheroni may be sacked if results don’t improve with former Perugia and Udinese boss Serse Cosmi apparently already being contacted.

That is a surprise!

If the two clubs want a new stadium it is perhaps not the worst solution to work together. It would be easier to finance the project, they would have more power in negotiations with the city and it is cheaper if two clubs use a stadium. Moreover they could get perhaps some money from the city or the state if it is also a stadium for the euro 2012 (if italy gets it).
I just want to get out of the old delle alpi and see juventus playing in a stadium with a good atmosphere without running track.

yep spot on. Although i dont think that the Granata would go further with the plans if they get relegated.
So for our sake we have wish the Granata some luck this season :pumpkin:

Yes, it is also a question of how much money torino can afford. They nearly went bancrupt two years ago, didn`t they? Does anybody know how their financial situation is under the new management?
I think we could spend more money on the project than torino. I think clubs who share a stadium in germany founded an own company which builds and runs the stadium and not both partners have to have 50 percent of the company. One club can own more then 50 percent if he has more financial power.
