    sth else ,
sometimes ago i assembled a pc for my uncle include:
    ddr 256mb
    40 giga maxtor+
    vga asus 32mb agp4X
    flat mnt
    and a 1800 mghz intel p4 cpu
    ....

but i've compared it with the same one but with a 1700xp amd(1400mghz clock rate)
and amd jsut ate intel ,really amd's cpus are excelent.

Reza, that all depends on the criteria of comparison. Overall, AMD cpus are faster than Intel's for the same frequency. The AMD 1.4GHz was comparable to Intel's 2.0GHz. However when you run various test you will find they both have strengths and weaknesses in different areas. I remember an elaborate test comparing AMD 1.4 to Intel 2.0 and they were just about equal on arithmetic. However on multimedia Intel had a good edge.

So yes, AMD is [a lot] cheaper but also faster than Intel, but peak value comparison will exaggerate the difference in performance between the two IMO.

    Just my two cents.. :)

    yup,
and somthing else, people who don't know much things about
cpus or pcs ,just say "hey we want a pentium 4 only "
and u cann't put them in pressure or convince them that here we have another choices .so it's another trouble .

and yes about multimedias i agree and something interesting
you may study about in the future is structure of intel's p4 ,,
at a glance ;they can virtually divide into two independent cpus
in critical conditions ,but there isn't much program which can use these features properly ,,,,
one of them is photoshop6's filters which programed with
    assembly language.

    have fun,,,, p4 (cost$)=2* amd xp( cost$)

how much co$t may be important ?;)

Well lately my mainboard crashed, stopped the cpu fan and killed my cpu. So I replaced it with a Pentium 4 system, they're not as expensive anymore now.

Yeah but I know I'm not putting my trust in a @£$#¤ MSI mainboard again. Not only did it ruin my system, it also malfunctioned and caused to disturbance on the PCI bus before I found out I had to turn down the cpu frequency to keep it from killing my LAN connection. No more $€£!@£ MSI!!!!!!! :fero:

i have one of 6va (via) and it works like clock.

but the best one is asus and of course much more expensive .

by the way recently i've found a forum (free) and am going to
run it in our corporation's site .not as beautiful as here but better than nothing :D.
i love forums ,one day i write my own forum with asp .net.

Well I wouldn't go that far. Let's just say I'm somewhat skeptical with their newest conquest plans, WinXP registration and all that. But I still use Windows, I rely on a bunch of Win software still.

The XP registration is the last straw! :fero: But am too deeply entangled in Windows software  to dump it all together.

Apparently Microsoft is working on a new OS dubbed 'Longhorn' & Intel has moved a gear up by pushing for 'Prescot' which should push the processor speeds past the 3Ghz (upto 5Ghz) mark and the PCI Express bus coupled with Nvidia coming up with NV40 and this combination folks is supposed to be so endearing that we shall all be buying new PC's.
