First off you make Milan's champions league success seem like miracle . they had Kaka , player of the year . Pirlo , Gatusso , and Seedorf who were all in the form of their lives as well as a striker who wouldn't stop scoring up front . A coach with the right mentality could do great things but if that were the case then Ethiopia could win the world cup with the right coach . It's not that simple . To win a major championship , you need a well organised team with discipline and intense preparation and yes .. you need the right players for it . Juve have a more than decent starting 11 , that's not the problem , the problem is in our subs . We have no squad depth and that's why we aren't first in the league and Inter is .

Take inter's attack for example , they have three world class finishers ; Suazo , Cruz , and Crespo . We have one . Milan have .. well .. none . Roma have Totti who isn't a real striker to begin with . The point is Inter have unbelievable squad depth and IMO afterall that's what decides who wins the league .

You mentioned salaries .. That very simply means nothing . We have players like Alex and Gigi who earn extremely high salaries and that's why we are in the top three when it comes to that . Fiorentina don't have a legend that has been playing for them for 15 years or a goalkeeper that is the most expensive in the world . Mutu just joined the team 2 seasons ago ; you expect him to earn 10 mill a year ?
You may have even proved my point just there ; yes compare Mutu to Tiago , Tiago is more expensive but who is more important . Mutu has been phenomenal while Tiago has been warming the bench . Does a high salary really matter then ?

If you aren't convinced Inter , Roma , and Milan have better overall squads than us then I'm wasting my time even arguing here . We have no left back . No creative midfielder , no replacement for Camo , or even Nedved . SO we have no replacements for either wing . We have one decent Right back and that's Zebina who we used to rate as rubbish not a long time ago and you think we have a better team than Inter , Roma and Milan .

Greece ? You must be joking , that was the fluke of the century . Put Greece in a league with 20 teams with 40 MATCHES , most of which , are superior to them and then show me how Greece will win the championship .

To win every single game of the season excluding the ones against the stronger teams takes us back to my first point , squad depth . The league us a marathon and to drop only 10 points against weakers sides must mean you have the team with the greatest squad depth . For us that is not the case.

Ibra is a player that can finish off game by himself , if not by scoring then by somehow creating the goal . I don't like him as a player as I think he is the most selfish player to ever walk the earth but the fact is he gets the job done .
You mock him because he scores against Siena but really , isn't that the point winning against the smaller teams as you said .

Finally , like I said before I have no faith in Ranieri's tactics but he'll do for this season . As for Lippi , If I were him I wouldn't coach again . HE won the world cup , the best any coach could hope for , why would he come back and try to win something that is of far kess importance ? However , if he does decide to come he will be more than welcome .

Ranieri: Serie A is ultimate test

Claudio Ranieri admits Serie A is the toughest League for Coaches, but he can handle the pressure ahead of Juventus’ clash with Napoli.

The tactician has worked all over Europe at top sides like Chelsea and Valencia, so he is qualified to comment on the problems in each nation.

“We know that there is this constant media pressure in Italy. The Coaches of Serie A, B and C could go on and work anywhere in the world, because when you get out of this 'university’ of football you can handle anything.

“Perhaps I am able to handle this pressure a little better than others because I am from Rome.”

Ranieri needed a thick skin this week after he came under attack from newspapers and club officials over whether Juve’s objective for this season was a Champions League place or the UEFA Cup.

“The club chooses its Coach and the players choose to do their job as best they can,” he said when asked why more of the squad didn’t come out to support him.

“The greatest thing is seeing the lads play, work hard and put in the effort. All the rest does not count. They are giving everything for Juventus and that is the right approach. They leave judgment to the club and that seems normal to me.”

Holding on to third place could depend on Sunday’s match with Napoli, one of the few teams to have beaten Juve this season in a controversial 3-1 result.

“I don’t want to talk about the mistakes of that day. Napoli are a dangerous opponent and my focus is only on tomorrow’s game.”

The Bianconeri have quite a few absentees for this Turin encounter, as Mauro Camoranesi, Nicola Legrottaglie and Jonathan Zebina are suspended.

Cristiano Zanetti, Marco Marchionni and Jorge Andrade are injured, so Tiago Mendes is expected to start in midfield despite his disastrous start to the season.

“He is very different to how he was a few months ago,” assured Ranieri. “He is more confident and relaxed, so I expect a good performance.”

Ranieri: Serie A Toughest In World For Coaches
Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri says that Serie A is the toughest league in the world for a coach.

The Tinkerman’ has come under increased pressure over the past few weeks, with many Juventus fans and some sections of the media calling for him to be sacked after the team had picked up just one point in three games.

“We know that there is this constant media pressure in Italy,” said Ranieri, who has also coached in both England and Spain.

“The Coaches of Serie A, B and C could go on and work anywhere in the world, because when you get out of this 'university’ of football you can handle anything.

“Perhaps I am able to handle this pressure a little better than others because I am from Rome.

“The club chooses its Coach and the players choose to do their job as best they can.

“The greatest thing is seeing the lads play, work hard and put in the effort. All the rest does not count. They are giving everything for Juventus and that is the right approach. They leave judgment to the club and that seems normal to me.

Tomorrow evening Juve welcome Napoli to Turin in a re-match of the controversial week 9 game, when the Partenopei were awarded two scandalous penalties in a 3-1 defeat.

“I don’t want to talk about the mistakes of that day. Napoli are a dangerous opponent and my focus is only on tomorrow’s game,” Ranieri concluded.

now before everyone starts insulting him; i think he did a good job there. How can u say he doesn't give good comments to the media. He's even joking:
"Il rinnovo del suo contratto [Buffon] è un segnale postitivo per la Juve. Gli ho chiesto se mi prestava il suo procuratore - scherza il tecnico - ma siamo felici, è anche un segno di continuità".
He says about the buffon contract-extension: "I have asked him if he could borrow me his manager". Now i think that's pretty sympatic... but whatever; you can now start bashing him.... :) (i'm joking of course)

Ranieri: «We want to do well»
One evening match after the other. After winning away at Genoa, Juventus are ready to face another Sunday night game. They'll play at the Olimpico against Napoli, one of the few teams that were able to beat the Bianconeri this season, in a match that is remembered mostly due to referee Bergonzi's mistakes.

On the eve of the match, Ranieri said he wants a win, but for the League table, not to erase what happened at the San Paolo Stadium in the last match: «Two clear mistakes were made, but it's pointless to talk about them again. We aim to do well, keeping up the good stuff we showed last Sunday. We'd never been in a situation like the one before the Genoa game before, there was pressure, people were expecting an excellent performance, and we gave an excellent performance».

This match is marred by several players missing. Suspensions and injuries will force both Ranieri and Reja to change the line-ups a little. «I'm very sorry about what happened to Zalayeta – Juventus' Manager continued– he's an excellent player and an excellent person, I wish him well in recovering soon. Napoli had a good forward duo with him and Lavezzi, they integrated well together, we’ll change our tactics according to who will replace him and most of all we'll need to keep an eye on Lavezzi because we know how good and cunning he is. We have a lot of players missing too, but whoever will play will do all they can to do well. The strength of a team shows when those who play less are called into action and they don't make you miss the regulars».

Defence and midfield. These are the sectors where Ranieri will have to change more. In the middle, Zanetti and Camoranesi's absence could pave the way for Tiago. Ranieri had some encouraging words for the Portuguese. «Tiago today is different from the first Tiago, he's more motivated and happy, and so I'm expecting a good performance from him. We all know he's an excellent player and now he has to show us. Playing alongside Sissoko? They’ve never played together, but they have the right characteristics to do so».

Tiago Did Well - Ranieri
Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri talked about the victory against Napoli, and was finally able to praise midfielder Tiago.

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri talked about his team's 1-0 home victory against Napoli to SKY TV.
"We had to take into account the absent players and the ones who were more in form," he explained. "I thought our formation today was the most appropriate one against an opponent which attacks the spaces well. In the first half we had some difficulties, while in the second half I asked the team to look more for the strikers and I brought in [Christian] Molinaro and [Vincenzo] Iaquinta. I'm happy about my players' performances."
On midfielder Tiago's performance, he said: "He played a very good match. He felt at ease in his position. He made many good passes, winning many balls in midfield, for me he played a great match.

"I have a good relationship with the club. Some journalists do their job, others only try to create more controversy and destabilize other teams to make the news. How can I be nervous with my team playing like this in the league? What more can a coach want? I think I'm doing my job well, the numbers confirm it."

Considering options he had today and subs i would give him also 7/10.
He had balls to change usual 422 with 3412 with not much tested Stendardo and by moving Chiellini to left, and from 60' to switch to 433.
He looked stressed last 2 games and he done well..Hope keeps this way..

Ranieri couldn't be happier
Sunday 16 March, 2008
Claudio Ranieri berated the media for writing there is dissent in the Juventus ranks. “What more could a Coach want?”

The tactician has been under fire this week amid reports the club will fire him if he doesn’t at least achieve third place in Serie A – which looks increasingly solid after tonight’s 2-1 win over Napoli.

“I have an excellent rapport with the club and the players. There are some in the media who want to build stories on thin air, but the side immediately stood behind me.

“How can I be tense or irritable when the squad is having such a great season? What more could a Coach want? There is a fantastic rapport with everyone here and all I try to do is my job.”

It took until the 88th minute to see off Napoli after a game where the absence of the suspended Mauro Camoranesi, Jonathan Zebina, Nicola Legrottaglie and injured Cristiano Zanetti was sorely felt.

“One must always deal with the shape individual players are in when picking the team and the system. I think I made the right choices. Tiago Mendes played a great game and I think in the end we deserved the win.”

Edy Reja was disappointed to emerge from the Olimpico empty-handed after hanging on for so long and wasting good chances with Gyorgy Garics and Marek Hamsik.

“We obviously have regrets over the late goal. It’s a shame, as the lads fought for every ball tonight and deserved better luck,” said the Napoli boss.

Del Piero: Ranieri fantastic for Juventus
tribalfooball.com - March 16, 2008

Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero paid tribute to under pressure coach Claudio Ranieri after yesterday's 1-0 victory over Napoli.
Del Piero had a hand in Vincenzo Iaquinta's late winner and said at the final whistle: "The coach is doing a fantastic job. The results speak for themselves. Then, this is a team and the team is the one that will decide the club's future.

"He must stay calm, there is full support for him."
