biased as they come? when did this happen? the fact of the matter is that Ale is still our best player and is delivering the goods day in day out...players these days are fitter than ever and if Maldini can still be a top player at age 41, who's so say Ale can't maintain the same level of performance?
I dont think Maldini was very special in his last seasons.

I agree with Razielist. Ahmed, just drop it. Del Piero might be our best player (I could easily argue Amauri, Chiellini, or Sissoko for that matter), but that owes much to the fact that our other players have been largely unconvincing, with the excpetion of Chiellini, Amauri, Sissoko, Marchisio, and to a certain extent Iaquinta and Buffon.

Marchionni has been treacherous; Nedved, while being energetic and full of running has hardly been productive, and I don't need to talk about the likes of Tiago, Poulsen, Legro, and Molinaro. They haven't really set the world alight, but haven't been as bad as Marchionni.

The fact of the matter is, Ale, while being one of our better players, has not been that outstanding this year, and most definitely his performances this year have been sub-par as opposed to last year or our season in Serie B. He did contribute a lot in the Champions League, and I will attest to that. However, the bottom line remains, he is not getting any younger, and we gradually need to accept that he is not immortal or eternal, and needs to be phased out so that others are given a chance to prove themselves.

You can not compare Maldini and DP because one plays at the back and another one is up front.
The guy upfront can (often) make mistakes, one can run like gazelle, another can walk, even there are both legends, only one can be insulted by his own fans..

Zamparini: I want Ranieri!
Tuesday 2 June, 2009
Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini will sack Davide Ballardini after the Coach “compromised” his position and admits he’d like to sign Claudio Ranieri.

Ballardini complained this week that he wanted to look elsewhere because he felt his role and autonomy were not respected under the watchful eye of an interfering patron.

“Next week I will meet with director of sport Sabatini to see where we are, but first of all we must wait for Ballardini to free himself,” said Zamparini.

“He is an excellent Coach, but the situation has been compromised. I like [Marco] Giampaolo and am intrigued that Ranieri is now a free agent.”

Current Siena Coach Giampaolo has already been linked with the Rosanero job after keeping his team in the top flight.

Ranieri is an interesting and ambitious option for Zamparini, as he recently became the first Juventus boss since the 1960s to be fired mid-season.

As for Ballardini, he is widely expected to take over at Lazio, who have qualified for the Europa League via the Coppa Italia triumph.

The Biancocelesti have taken time to “consider Delio Rossi’s demands” in contract renegotiations, giving Ballardini the green light.

“I have taken a week out before meeting with Zamparini again,” explained Ballardini on lalaziosiamonoi.it.

“I have not yet closed the door on Palermo, we need to confront each other on some issues.”

I say who cares, it will be AMAZING while it lasts.

Hopefully Zamparini in the end makes a fool out of Ranieri, as in, "haha, you dumbass, you knew you were going to get fired after three matches!"
