There's one more year for ranieri with juventus, Im not the biggest ranieri fan, but im certainly against his dismissal. With improvements during this years mercato, next year should be the year where ranieri will be truly tested.

Regarding the Nedved situation, I think Ranieri should have brought on Poulsen instead. Poulsen can give the Chelsea midfielders some rough tackles. Brazzo adds nothing to the squad and is over the hill

Is that what some people wanted after Nedved's injury?:howler:

Ranieri did the right thing in bringing on Salihamidzic(even though I'd have prefered Poulsen).
Excuse me but what is funny about the above formation? If you want to win football matches you have to be brave enough to take risks and what is this obsession with stopping the opponent instead of believing in your own abilities?

The fact is that Ranieri put out that formation by default, it has nothing to do with outsmarting anybody.

If they were fit Marchionni or Camoranesi as well as Sissoko would have started and I am very sure we would still have gone out but the performance would be no where as good.

We all know we needed a high tempo performance so i do not see how Giovinco was not played for the start instead of 37 year old Nedved. Look at Dp he was so spent at the end covering too much ground at his age that he was made to look like a turtle trying to negotiate its way round a greyhound against Bosingwa.

And can we please lay off Capello as the circumstances are different. I may not be a fan of Capello and yes he did have a better squad but he did also lose to teams superior to this Chelsea side as Liverpool though not great at that time still went on to win the CL and that Arsenal side with Fabregas pulling the strings were just too fast and skilful for us.

Perhaps the result we have been hanging onto this season is defeating Real Madrid home and away but this is the same Real Madrid in even better form than when we played them being battered 5-0 on aggregate by Liverpool. When have ou ever heard a Real side being humiliated like that?

Chelsea played with Ballack, Essien, Mikel and Lampard in the midfield, come on they should have been severly punished.

The biggest problem with this side is that they do not know how to control the tempo of a game at crucial periods, it is either we start a game very well as we did last nite then lose initiative for no apparent reason then rally at the end.

I have seen it far too many times and everytime we relinquinsh inititive , we concede goals and that has been our undoing. I must confess for a little while there I thought another good victory will come about by a Nedved injury as it happened against Milan cos De Ceglie on that day made all the difference but this time it was Sali brought on

Serie A is over, 11 matches and 7 points deficit...we can forget about it...
The only hope of a silverware this year, is the Coppa :frown:
4 points behind with 10 games to play is how it has to be viewed.

We must beat Inter when we play them to have any chance at all.

you think we lost initiative last night? we were all over Chelsea for most of the game, but just couldn't quite find a way to break through...their 1st goal was a fluke and the 2nd they hit us on the counter-attack when we were a man down...Sali added some brawn to the MF which really disturbed the Chelsea MF, and had Ranieri thrown on Giovinco instead, it would have made our MF look very lightweight

Denco, you feel we ought to have punished Chelsea for playing all their top central midfielders, but you also praise Juve's playing without wide players.

Please explain how you think Juve should have been able to break through Chelsea's packed midfield, without any natural width in the team.

You beat me to it. We have to beat them when they visit. Lets say Inter gets their asses handed to them tonight, that will pretty much kill their motivation for a short time, considering they were putting everything on the CL this year. If they lose their confidence wont be as high heading into this weekends serie A games. We have some tough games coming up, if we play with the same intensity and maybe even the same formation we could pull off a huge upset at the end of the season.

The title chase is not over, we just can't afford any more losses or even ties. Our team will be so much different if Gio plays and he adds what he added last night but CR has got to play him. Hopefully that was an eye opener for ranieri for Gio.

Oh I thought I made that clear by saying they played with 4 central midfielders and I meant that they did not pose a threat down the flanks unlike how Kalou tortured Molinaro in the 1st leg.

Did we or did we not go 1-0 up in the first half? Iaquinta was making runs behind the defence and giving Terry as well as Alex problems. That is how he scored the 1st goal cos when Nedved went off DP moved to the left, Iaquinta moved alongsideTrez from the right and was able to combine with Trez.

Giovinco came on and could run past their defenders but Dp though causing Chelsea problems was to my mind playing too deep.

Anyways I did not think we could do anymore last nite and I am not mad about what happened yesterday, it was the 1st leg that is making me mad and i voiced my anger then as I knew we had blown it big time over there.

Let me pose a question to you, as I have not seen much of our current league games but why was Amauri on the bench instead of Trzeguet is he in bad form?

I have to be honest there was no call for him to be on the bench as I dont see him as an impact player, I think Trez is more likely to come off the bench anc score than he is

@Ahmed what game were you watching as we did not control the beginning of the 2nd half as that goal deflated us till we got the penalty.

We had to start well as we were 1 goal behind but we concede too many times and do not score too many when we are on top.

It has happened far too many times this season for it to be a coincidence I am afraid.

Fair enough, Denco.

Amauri hasn't scored for quite a while, but his general link up play and workrate has still been excellent.

yeah well,i hear that "juve material" alot from the forum,so i thought you guys would probably know the meaning better than i do...haha
well yeah,i mean from someone as smart as Lippi,to the gritty Capello,to a very loyal Deschamps, we got a ranieri..honestly,he has not been the worst, but i think if he does not bring us the scudetto this year, then i would love to see a different manager next year..

good posts, Dennis

the plain and simple truth is that RUINeri is better suited to run mid-table teams who are just happy to survive the drop...we need a world class coach who can lead us to titles. We will never see any trophies with this loser in charge

Then, Secco should be the next to go....

I didn't realise we were doing charity work with Ranieri
give me a break
I don't blame him for last night but can you honestly see an improvement in the way we play
I think not
let's say we win either scudetto or copa or he's out
he's made far too many mistakes, tactically and on the transfer market to be a winning coach
what were his mistakes?

i dont get what youre complaining about

in the last 2 years weve consistently performed excellently against teams with much stronger squads than us (last season we were undefeated against the other big teams)

the improvement is that this season we are clear second, last season we were third...dont forget, the season before that we were in serie b!
