i think he was right with his substitions. sali isn't juve material but it was still 0:0 and it was too early to play gio. don't get me wrong he was maybe mom when he came on but why should we risk everything after 15 min... with dp iq and trez on the pitch. we couldn't play to offensive and leave to much space for chelsea

The most important task for Ranieri right now is to maintain the mentality of the squad to a high, especially after the crashing out of the CL. This is an extremely delicate moment since the player played with their hearts out and go out. Don't forget that the Serie A title chase and the Coppa Italia is still wide open. I have never seen players doing the best since this Chelsea game and with this sort of attitude we will go very far. This is definitely a psychological issue, but I'm sure Juventus will be able to do it since they have overcomed Real in the 2 matches.

Will Ranieri be able to instill the mentality of the players to a high for Serie A and Coppa Italia? Only time will tell but I'm very confident Ranieri will do that.

I'm digging that 4-3-3 with Tiago and Marchisio in the middle. That's the first time I've seen Ranieri opting out of fielding a defensive midfielder (albeit in difficult circumstances during this game) at any point of any match this year.

Serie A is over, 11 matches and 7 points deficit...we can forget about it...
The only hope of a silverware this year, is the Coppa :frown:

we won't get anywhere if we stick with Ranieri
if we ever want cl or scudetto again we need another coach, not that I blame him for the Chelsea game but I don't see any progress in our games

It'd be harsh to remove Ranieri right now... you have to give him time and give him some very good players to work with... One more season and then we can decide if he is a success or a failure... He's building this team, and it'd be Chelsea all over again for him if we were to remove him now... He doesn't deserve that IMO..

I didn't realise we were doing charity work with Ranieri
give me a break
I don't blame him for last night but can you honestly see an improvement in the way we play
I think not
let's say we win either scudetto or copa or he's out
he's made far too many mistakes, tactically and on the transfer market to be a winning coach

And you think Lippi would win us the Scudetto with this squad? Capello had the best squad in Italy and yet he bowed out like a sissy in Europe... This squad clearly isn't good enough... Mourinho made two expensive mistakes in the transfer market but he's afforded to do those mistakes... Ranieri wasn't given enough money... Give him better players and then we'll decide if he is good enough or not...

With a squad half the quality of Inter, we are still second in Serie A... with half the quality of Chelsea we matched them, or I dare say, outplayed them over the two legs...

And yes, I do see us play much better than we were before... the only problem is that we have consistency issues... and a lot of injuries...

I'll give you the injuries part but common with the amount of attacking quality we have is it really to much to ask for more then four shots on goal
we were lucky to escape with a draw last night
we played with a lot of heart but lack quality to dismantle a brick wall
or maybe not, did you see how Gio immediatly caused them troubles

we knew before the game we needed to win 2-0
everybody knows we lack creativity without Camo
for Chelsea it was relatively easy to pull up a curtain
with Neddy out so soon, he replaced him with Salhi
not exactly the man to create chances
Del Piero then dropped back to midfield to get the ball
again easy for Chelsea to defend
we have a creative player in Gio, why not use him?
we have an awesome strikeforce but they never saw the ball
who was going to deliver the ball there?
but again I'm not suddenly anti-Ranieri, I only believe we need a change if we want to take another step forward

____Marchisio Tiago
_______Giovinco
Iaquinta Trezeguet Del Piero

Is that what some people wanted after Nedved's injury?:howler:

Ranieri did the right thing in bringing on Salihamidzic(even though I'd have prefered Poulsen).
