MArchisio anyday of the week. at least compared to Juventus ´pirlo?
WHy? because he never needed babysitting. Pirlo depends a whole tactic focused around him and that a big "lets fuck pirlo and proceed to fuck them" sign...which we were pray in the games that mattered the most.
Marchisio doesnt have the passing, free kicks range and vision of Pirlo.. but gets the job done and is defensively reliable, unlike Pirlo.
With marchisio on the field...we can focus more on taking the bulk of the attack and attack to more attacking players around him...instead of havng to have Vidal and Pogba around Pirlo 24/7.
Herpaderp Pirlo was a helpless little old man in 2011-12 and needed the whole team to babysit him since he was so weak and frail. You gotta remember that this is not 2014-15, in the 2012 Euros it was every teams tactic to man mark the shet out of Pirlo and he cucked them all. Kroos' only job in that Euro game was to hold Pirlo and he failed miserably. Besides, his defensive stats were pretty much identical with Marchisio's that season so he held his own perfectly well. And even if he wasn't a defensive starwalt, I'd still take him over regista Marchisio any day of the week purely due to his absolutely insane passing, chance creation, set-pieces and dribbling skills.
Brb arguably the best player of the league in 11-12
Brb without a shred of doubt, the best player of the Juve squad in 11-12
Brb like 13 assists and 3 goals
Brb 3-4 clear goal scoring chances created per match on average
Brb best player of the Euros, carried Italy to the finals
Brb most consistent performer of the whole team
Brb trusted with all set-pieces
Pirlo was an absolute game changer, the whole squad would've crumbled if we didn't have him that season. Marchisio is a silent operator that is dynamic and makes others look good, but isn't one that wins you games directly. If the rest of the team plays a bad game and Marchisio plays well, we lose. If 11-12 Pirlo plays a good game and others play like shet, it's still a victory or a draw due to his genius alone. One simple through ball or a set-piece does it.
And I'm not here to rag on Marchisio (cause I know a lot of you like to label people at the slight hint of a disagreeing opinion) as I love the dude and consider him as one our most, if not THE most important player right now. Just saying that the 11-12 Pirlo was just so so much better it shouldn't even be a discussion. But hey, opinions are opinions, and if you consider the defensive aspects and overall ''well-roundedness'' as more important then I won't argue.
