Blessing in disguise that Pirlo got injured.. Marchisio deserves that cdm role Allegri!!
This. As said before we became much more solid when this happend. I hate to say it as we all love Pirlo but he should be used as a luxury player that we use when we need to and can afford to he shouldnt be first choice ahead of Marchisio.

Excellent performance at DM from Claudio. Could y'all stop calling him a regista, though plox?

When he plays at DM he's not acting as a playmaker but a defensive midfielder. A regista is a deep-lying playmaker and Marchisio is not that guy.

Don't be that guy either.

I feel we're kind of wasting Marchisio as defensive mid. his long shots, passing in the final third and also his late runs in the box. why don't we consider putting Vidal there since that's how he started out? his passing and overall technique doesn't compare.

although I do agree Vidal has more presence, due to his insane work rate mainly.

It's the opposite, he's way better as a DM than as a box-to-box. As a box-to-box he's a good player while as a DM he's been world class.
I like Marchisio as a DM but i miss his runs and offensive play as well. He was amazing during Conte's first season.

@ zizinho, I disagree. Weirdly enough Marchisio is someone who used to be deadly as box to box CM when he was younger, but as he grown older his instinct for goal and runs has not been anywhere close to previous levels of his. It matters alot he is not playing with someone like Vucinic for past 2 seasons, takes away big time from opportunities he used to get, but still. Needless to say, he is ALOT better as DM, as someone said, pretty world class almost. As CM to the right or left in a trio, he is good, but not that integral to the team, his shots just outside the box or runs into it usually lead to very little, say compared to someone like Vidal who is super efficient in this role (or was). While in reverse, Vidal is VERY bad choice for the calculating and stationary role of a DM that Marchisio has shown he excells at, latter has the tactical patience and resilience to do this quiet role, while Vidal is all around action energy rocket that needs to be all over to effective.
