i actually like him in this deeper role because he can take those longshots better since he comes in unmarked. sure they dont always go on but we saw how when they are on target the can cause problems with goalkeepers deflecting them in the path of tevez and morata

Can't blame him for that. You'd need to have reflexes of a very good keeper and be more experienced in these situations to keep that out. Basically you'd have to be a goalie or defender of Canna's or Nesta's quality and due to competence in defensive tasks these would have no difficulty to deny that header. Other than that he had a briliant game.
