Zach, you're out of breath and you need to put a sock in it - that analysis doesn't hold up. Honestly your attempts of giving Marchisio too much credit are nauseating. Its basically means this, assuming Pirlo is playing:

If Marchisio is starting on the right, then Conte has told him to play a defensive, covering dacdicality role.

If Pogba is starting on the right, then Conte has told him to play an offensive role.

Damn, if only Conte would stop hating Marchisio and just let his talent flow freely. The issue with Marchisio is that he definitely has the talent to shine, both defensively and offensively. He's a hard worker even when he doesn't play well, but that's where it stops with him. He reminds me of Matri in that way, in order to truly flourish and do everything he is supposed to then he really needs consecutive runs of games where he scores to boost his confidence.
Marchisio is a confidence player, that i agree on.

But the bold part... italian coaches are very known to tactically limit their players. And i've seen conte instruct marchisio with many diffrent things. He allways does it reasonably well

offcourse, if you say "sometimes, he does better things with the ball", then you are right offcourse. But its far from his most important task.
Against real madrid, he was brilliant. Just, brilliant.

A shame the defence let him down

Don't you dare cop out on me like that, I've smacked people in discussions way too many times to allow that. Don't mention the Madrid game as Marchisio was playing the role of an extra midfielder with the clear purpose of shutting down Ronaldo and then cutting in during the attacks to open space for Caceres relentless runs forward - which goes fine in hand with what I said about him, that he always works hard and is good defensively.

Again I ask you: Why is Conte limiting Marchisio but not Pogba? Why is Marchisio starting one day and he is being instructed to sit back and do a purely defensive job (if we are to follow your line of reasoning that Marchisio is invisible offensively and has been all season since Conte is asking him to), when Pogba start the next day in the same role, in the same setup and just takes on the entire world? Again, why does Conte hate on Marchisio like dat?

Because Pogba has 4x more talent offensively

Which makes the entire point of starting Marchisio obsolete as only a madman would argue that Pogba's relatively small defensive downside when compared to Marchisio (and I would only consider this to be true in games where Pogba isn't 100% in the game as a result of his lacking experience) outweighs the fact that he is as you put it, 4x better offensively.
