I'd like to see Asamoah start some games in Marchisio's position over the course of the season. Vidal-Pirlo-Asamoah. The man is too good to be confined to the flank.

Yeah, Asamoah kills it in center mid. Such a great player.

What ever happened to Ganso?
He was a time bomb from day one. He's got a rare knee injury (on both knees) that has no known treatment.

Back in '10 he was able to deal with it having just one bad knee. About 2 years ago he had another surgery for the other one, that was it.

He's got absolutely no chance of playing on the same level as he once did. He's done.

Yeah, it's very unfortunate. He could have been an amazing footballer, he had a bit of Pirlo in him.

But if you think about it, so could Kaka, Pato, Ronaldo....

Even though the latter is considered to be one of the best in the sport, IMO he could have been bigger than Pelé hadn't he had so many injuries. Imagine having 3 World Cups (We wouldn't have lost that '98 final was he 100%) by the age of 25, he had a rough average of one goal per match and that's being off the pitch for so many months. Top WC scorer of all time. Countless other awards and titles and that's having a fucked up knee that made him suffer like hell through out his whole career.

Yes. Not saying he was gonna be legend level but the talent was there. Being made of glass didn't help.

From now on we'll only see glimpses of the talent he should have had. Also the whole thing was very amateurish to be honest, Santos had Neymar and Ganso, the two biggest promises in the country at that time. Ganso got injured and was out for 6 months, no more interest from Europe and Neymar, well, they waited too long and had two choices, keep him for another season and let him go for free or get whatever. Both were sold for at least 2 to 5 times less.
