I'm not saying Vidal wouldn't do better than Marchisio, but let's wait till we've seen Vidal play in a 2-man midfield before going overboard with the comparisons, shall we?

Vidal comes on when the opponent is tired and gets a free role, he can do whatever he pleases pretty much.

He was 5/10 - 5.5/10 for me today, had some decent link play in the first half but looked timid on direct opponents, like he was waiting for the player to lose possession rather than win it himself. He also didn't drive forward. Overall in the game I thought neither team made much attempt to win the ball back, it was an open midfield and then a wall of defense, until the goal.

Sorry, I'm missing some buzzwords. Ghost. Invisible. Terrible. Awful. Anorexia. Cocaine. Start Vidal. Conte. ItalJuve. Juventino. Fanboy. Call me Suzy at weekends.

Equilibrium is restored.

I agree with this assessment.

Something some of you keep forgetting and will always forget, Marchisio defensively is not only covering for himself but for Pirlo. Pirlo doesn't loose his stamina for defensive duties and therefore Marchisio has to give extra work which results of him not impressing offensively.

 And covering for Vidal when he enter. Because Vidal has free role, playing like an AM not doing so much defensive work bar some pressing and a couple of sequences when he recoverd the ball.

Then why not change the formula to something more adequate to the type of players we have?

That's all well and good if there was some impressive defensive stuff going on with him today. There wasn't. He played like shy little girl scared to get grass stains on his dress.

Conte probably has different vision concerning this. Marchisio plays the same position Conte played for us and maybe our coach has something in mind tactically or more like he has faith in him to develop into one of the players he wants.

Yes, today he wasn't up to the game.

:agree:
never heard of the sentence: ''A dm should not be seen in the game''
marchisio played good because our defence almost never get into problems through the middle.
