If we were smart, we would have kept his base salary the same and made the bonuses worth more. For example, Marchisio stays on 1m a year, but CL qualification equals another 750k, a certain amount of goals/assists/appearances equals 500k, and any titles are 250k a piece. I agree with Alen. No1 in the current team should be getting pay raises based on the last 2 seasons.

There's no way one would agree to that after two seasons in a row of 7th place finishes. If another one comes, you're screwed.

I don't like the Marchisio contract, but it is what it is. At least it's not 4M a season or something.

I just don't care about him, he's not good enough nor is he bad...He's just there, a bench player, no more no less.

And he's not the future captain, Chiellini is. There is only 1,5 years between them so Chiellini will be around through out Marchisio's whole career.

then lets put Giorgone's contract through the shredder and watch him sail away to Spain or England.
Chiellini is a much more valuable asset to us, both on the pitch and as a potential sale. I believe Giorgio also brings more money through jersey sales.
Our team can do without Marchisio, even without adding new players. It can't do without Chiellini.

I see your point, although at least with Chiellini we know he can consistently deliver, in a position where he is an undisputed starter. The same cannot be said about Claudio.

I'm not implying we should take our chances and not secure him long term, but as a fan, I find it tough to swallow that our players are being rewarded on the back of shitty form.

We had to cut the wage bill substaintially last summer in part because of no CL, and will do so again this summer. With large bonuses tied to CL qualification, it is a fair compromise for both sides. For the player, they earn more money with European play, and for the club the financial impact is consistent with the added revenue.

I am so glad Marchisio signed an extension, that would shut the women around here for a bit, and they won't be complaining.:p
It's time to shut the males around the Tuz and sign Aguero, Sanchez, and Benzema

No one on this team deserves to be earning what they are currently, certainly based on their shambolic performances over the past 2 seasons. Marchisio is no exception! Perhaps DP is the only one worthy of what he earns, and with his new contract, he is actually earning less then he warrants.

Yeah, our wage structure is a total mess. Seventh place finishes two seasons in a row and we're handing out bumper contracts to under-performing players? Fucked up. Marchisio earning double that of someone like Hamsik is a sick joke. So is Marotta's constant claims of trimming the fat, yet doing the opposite at every opportunity (minus Del Piero).

"Oh, but Grygera earns such and such. Marchisio deserves more!"

Fuck that.

Two wrongs don't make a right, obviously, all it does it spiral us deeper into a shitty financial situation. Not to mention, it sends a bad signal in terms of accountability on the pitch.

Merely being at Juve shouldn't entitle you to earn huge wages.

There always should be some balance.
You can't keep these players on 1mil/yr and then wish to sign the likes of Tevez and Aguero on 6/7x their salaries. This is how it works. It's todays numbers in football.
Whether some of you like it or not, he's a starter. We're not talking 3rd/4th choice player here.

Ans stop comparing our wages to a team like Udinese. They are a selling club who happen to overachieve for a season. you would expect them to reinforce if they reached CL, right? wrong. Watch them sell their key players.. that's how they run their club. they just look to develop some players and sell them for good sum and at the same time give some competition in Serie A. It's not gonna change anytime soon and of course they wouldn't offer high wages to players they have.

I wouldn't typically ignore people I disagree with, but seriously, you're probably the worst poster on the board currently.

Good-bye.
just because i am a fan of Claudio  i think this guy really has in his only he needs a coach. Ferguson really wanted him that is not for no reason. The sir has a better eye on football then most of the members here. Claudio is a great player who has played out of position for the whole season he isn't a lw he is a cm like scholes or gerrard who runs from box to box. and don't forget we actually won all the games when he was captain :p
