couple of bad seasons does not make us midtable strugglers, and neither should our players be paid in accordance with those expectations.
A couple does is not 5 years. When we were second Serie A was falling apart.

When you go down and get your revenue cut off by a big margin, you don't throw the money away just like that. One of the excuses by board will be 'we don't have enough money' sooner or later. Well, of course they don't when they're making this mess by paying skyhigh wages to unimportant players.

we made the appropriate sacrifices at the time, did we not?

if you want to get back to the glory days you have to secure your assets and pay them accordingly, especially if you want push for silverware.

Wait is 2.5 to little or too much?
Why would we complain if he's not paid a lot of money? :D
Only in Del Piero's thread you can see people blaming the board for managing to achieve what they wanted by spending little money.

And I certainly won't complain even if they pay all our players 10m eur per season, as long as it won't hurt our market and our financial stability. But as Dule said, the money issue will soon be mentioned as the reason why we can't sign some player. And of course we can't when we want to act like some filthy rich sheiks, throwing money away.

What are you talking about, based on what? You don't pay them accordingly just because you feel like that, but when you see results and signs of improvement. Marchisio's career over the past year was nothing but downhill slide.

Udinese and Napoli achieved much more and they pay double less than us. If they give them a pay rise now it's understandable because they did their job, unlike Juve players.

2.5m is a bit much but there are far bigger salary issues then Marchisio getting a raise.

Toni, Amauri, Grygera, even that joker Aquilani is on 3.3m. If we do sign him permanently then he doesn't even deserve half of that.

you cannot SUSTAIN success like that, especially in the current money-dominated world of club football.

you don't pay what the players feel they deserve, they will leave.

Samp also had a fairytale season last year, look how they ended up...hell Napoli should know.

True, for important and quality players, who make you a good team and you simply can't afford to lose. Not for underachievers like most of our players, including Marchisio.
He will leave? Then we should show him the door, because we ain't losing anything and he'll be easily replaced.

your opinion, glad that the club does not feel that way.
