Marchisio meniscus scare
Wednesday 7 October, 2009
Italy’s medical staff have warned not only might Claudio Marchisio miss the Ireland game, the Juventus star could require knee surgery.

The young midfielder showed problems during training with the Azzurri over the last couple of days and it could well prove to be serious.

“The player has a meniscus condition on the outside edge of the left knee,” explained chief Italy medic Enrico Castellacci.

“He will stay with us for two or three days and on Friday we’ll evaluate whether he has recovered and can come with us to Dublin.

“Otherwise he will return home and the Juve medical staff will decide what action to take.”

There are fears a meniscus problem could require surgery and a long lay-off of at least a couple of months.

More tests and keyhole surgery may be needed to ascertain the extent of the damage.

This is horrible news, fuck la squadra, we need Marchisio in such a difficult a time

The football italia article mentions the meniscus which could be pretty serious ( possible surgery and out for at least two months). Hopefully they are wrong and its just something minor so he doesn't play with the azzurri and comes back fit.

Put him out and have him get the surgery. What a fucking sham. I find it incredible that it's the Italian national team's medical staff that finds out that his knee is wonky, while something like this goes under the radar in the Juve camp.
