Unless something drastic changes during the summer, as in marchisio somehow improves massively, and we bring in a world class coach who can help him grow, he should be used more as a squad player next season. For sure we will improve the left wing, with a left winger, and there its nonsense to suggest clausio as more useful in the middle than aquilani and melo. Whilst his dedication to the club is constant and worthy of respect, on the pitch he is far, far too often invisible. 9 games out of 10, failing totally to make his presence felt on an area of the pitch where a player MUST make his presence felt. I like the guy...but melo v marchisio for the position alongside aquilani (or any other creative deep plying midfielder) is always going to be won by big phil, who we have been missing horribly recently.
A squad player, at best...who is competent at tackling, passing, good technique on the shot, decent pace, but too delicate and ghost like to be considered a definite future starter.
